Did the older past prime legend JCC fail against a much younger De La Hoya or was ODLH just that good?

The first fight for me wasnt really a de LA hoya KO, Chavez reopened a cut from training, That to me was a no contest.
The second fight he was to far gone.

chavez was 34, with 100 fights against an elite 23yo who was better suited to the weight. it wasnt a day for miracles.

i dont move goalposts. i know who canelo is, i said years ago he would one day beat ggg. i also know who oscar is, i saw him win the gold medal. 2 totally different fighters and situations. they arent even using the same stadium much less the same goalpost.

As somebody who thinks ODLH is overrated, you're wrong about this. The two situations aren't comparable.

Oscar is a legend. An anomaly. At 23 he was already elite, P4P, and on his way on becoming legendary.

Just a thought in how things get put in different perspective.. Coming from someone who don’t think Oscar is overrated. As a fighter who’s fought EVERYONE in his era he’s rated accordingly as an ATG in my eyes.. Just saying if Gervonta (22 or 23) was to fight and lose to Loma right now would he be considered too green 5 yrs from now or would Loma get the rightful credit he deserves.. LomIs P4P #1 imo same Floyd va Canelo and JCC(#1 or #2) vs Oscar

Still to this day I am amazed the HBO translator had the balls to translate Larry Merchant’s post fight question to Chavez.

How is this even a question. After the Whitaker and Randall fights, it was obvious that JCC was shotter than ****.

De La Hoya was vastly overrated.
