Hopkins was rated No.2 behind Quincy Taylor in March 1996 at middleweight by the ring magazine and Benn was rated No.2 behind Roy Jones at that time at super middle, if Bernard moved up could he have done vbetter than the G-man did vs Benn a year before in their ill-fated bout?
Benn was totally spent in 96. He left everything in the ring when he fought McLellan. B-Hop wasn't as good as he would go on to be three or four years later but he would have issued Benn a Starling v Honeyghanesque beating.
I feel Hopkins would have beat Benn also. Which of these two do you think punched harder when they were in their 20`s respectively?
I would imagine Benn, certainly with one shot. As the rounds go by though it becomes less of a difference.
