His 23rd fight where Deontay Wilder faced the fearsome Owen Beck on the undercard of Dustin Nichols v Alex Santos in Alabama .

Beck, then 38, was 29-10 and on a superb role of 7 consecutive defeats, 6 inside scheduled.

It should be noted that Wilder was only 5 fights away at this point from a career best challenge in the form of former Olympic Gold Medalist Audley A-Force Harrison and 10 fights away from conqueroring James Toney conqueror Jason Gavern

What will Joshua's 23rd bout be to top this

Both Hrgovic and Joyce who have been pro for a year have beaten a better opponent than Wilder had faced after 4 years as a pro. Says a lot about how heavily protected Wilder was during most of his career and probably to Wilder's detriment in regards to his development as a fighter. Maybe had he been matched up more aggressively he would of been forced to make more improvement than he has.

Just cuz Deontay dared to be great in only his 23rd fight doesnt mean its to be expected of everybody, Joshua is fine ticking along with names you need Boxrec to help you out with like Andy Povetkin or Phil Klithcko, Joshua is just a baby learning the sport, no need to rush him but hes always learning, give him another 15 fights and he should be ready to take over the world by beating some old or unfit names.

The bodybuilders at the stage of his career, that he now needs to surrender those title belts to the bronze bomber. Remember Anthony, Deontay wants at least a 60 - 40 split, once he's dealt with the gypsy king. You better get on your hands and knees and beg the bomb squad to be reasonable, because it might be a even bigger percentage taken out of your cheque. Lol.

Yep Wilder is just another bum who Joshua will have to overpay to bowl over. Wilder and Finkel and DiBella and the other 31 managers wont let their lamb get put to slaughter without cashing out big on it and if they cant cash out big they will ignore Joshua and carry on the bum feast they have been on for 40 fights.

Kind of funny how Wilder never had an iota of interest in a fully fit Fury.

Fury knows that Wilder wouldn't fight him if he was at his best, however if he is even 70% he'll make Wilder look as much of a novice as Mayweather did to McGregor last year. Something about Wilder tells me he won't take defeat well, proper toys out of the pram stuff

You never know with the way Hearn is protecting him, I suppose Miller will outdo the guy Wilder beat in his 24th fight, but how would Miller have done if he fought Wilder instead at that point?

Wilder will not be a bigger name than AJ after beating Fury.

Joyce hasn`t beaten anyone of note yet and looks worse than Wilder did at this stage of their careers.

Not sure how that relates to my post you aren't actually disagreeing with me just making a random statement about Joyce lol.

My original post stated Joyce at this stage had beaten someone better than Wilder had fought in his first 4 years as a pro which I believe is true. Wilder's best win was Damon McCreary at 14-0 and I think Kiladze is way better than McCreary, being not morbidly obese alone makes Kiladze better than McCrearly lol.

Also how does Joyce look worse than Wilder in his first as a pro? Wilder's best win in his first year was who exactly? He fought nobody in that first year as good as Kiladze or Lenroy Thomas, hell even Ivica Bacurin on paper is better than anyone Wilder fought in his first year as a pro.

Joyce right now is years ahead of Wilder at the same stage in regards to progress, which is necessary Joyce is old and can't waste time like Wilder did.

There wont be a single top 10 fighter in any division that after 25-30 fights had a resume as weak as Deontays. Nobody. Wilder took 35 fights to start fighting people of the level other top 10 guys were beating after 10-15 fights. When you have good faith in a fighter then you dont wait half as long and you dont wait until they are in their 30,s. When you dont have good faith in your fighter you do exactly what they have done with Deontay Wilder and see how long and how far they can go before they get found out.

In the modern era probably not, you'd have to go back to early last century when guys would have hundreds of fights to fight a first 25-30 opponents that were so obviously poor.

I mean who when 31-0 fight Jason Gavern? Gavern has fought a lot of undefeated well know heavies but none of them fought him when that experienced. Look at the list of undefeated heavies he faced and how many fights they had when they fought him.

    Joshua 10-0
    Washington 15-0
    Mansour 17-0
    Zhang 9-0
    Browne 13-0
    Larsen 16-0
    Ustinov 26-0
    Wach 25-0
    Pajkic 10-0
    Boystov 25-0

Despite also being British, Joshua never even fought Audley Harrison.

If Wilder beats Joshua that'll be TWO British gold medalists on his record. Kind of a historic achievement really.
