Who will be in Usyk’s corner this time?

Anatoly Lomachenko is in Oxnard with Loma preparing for the December 8 fight. Usyk’s training camp is in Ukraine. So, once again the same question arises — who is Usyk’s trainer..?

Alexander Krassyuk (K2) and Egis Klimas when asked about it not so long ago did their best to avoid a direct answer. It their words, Papachenko always was, is and will be Usyk’s mentor and advisor. Ok, so who will be Usyk’s trainer for the Bellew fight? They didn’t answer...

There’s a chance that Anatoly Lomachenko will fly to Manchester (there’s an 8 hours time difference with California) to be in Usyk’s corner during the fight, but when should he fly there? On the day of the fight? The day before it? But will he be able/want to leave Vasyl’ alone? Maybe, but I’m not sure...

 

Well, he's not even a trainer... In fact, he tried it only once with Usyk — in the fight vs. Thabiso Mchunu in 2016.

 

Definitely not. Anatoly Lomachenko had prepared (luckily for Usyk, Loma was injured and inactive) and was in his corner during the fight.

 

As a cutman. Anatoly Lomachenko was Usyk's trainer in that fight. I am absolutely sure about it.

 

Please do not underestimate the genius of Papachenko.

but K2 were quick to dispel the rumors, claiming it was a coincidence — James Ali Bashir was just working with Vlad Sirenko in Kyiv. And Bashir does spend a lot of time in Ukraine, and Sirenko is fighting today (Oct. 21) in South Africa so that was probably true as well.

 

Without a shadow of a doubt he was! Russ was acting like a trainer. But all the talking was done by an inconspicuous man in a black baseball cap — that's Anatoly Lomachenko.
