It was 11 years between GGG's debut and the first Canelo fight. So that's 3 or 4 years less than DLH had been fighting professionally when he fought Floyd. DLH had more mileage, he fought over 100 more rounds than GGG and more importantly he had been coming off a year of inactivity and had only 1 fight for 3 years before he fought Floyd.

DLH was pretty much coming out of a 3 year retirement when he fought Mayweather. Not only that he had 4 losses on his record. He was not an active fighter when he came back to fight Floyd. GGG on the other hand was actively defending his title, was unbeaten, was clearly much closer to his prime when he fought Canelo the first time than DLH was when he fought Mayweather.

Comparing Canelo to Mayweather is unrealistic and unfair considering that Floyd is an upper echelon top 10-25 ATG.
The level of domination the Mayweather had and consistently is something we don't see with alot of fighters.
But let's be real the only thing controversial about Canelos fights are how wide some of the scores are not who won...
The Lara fight was a close ugly bout that was tough to score because of Lara's running a 7-5 win for either fighter would he a fine decision. The first GGG fight was close Canelo won the first 3 and last 3 rounds with GGG imo winning everything in between. I mean really that's 2 closeish fights... GGG took a big ass whooping in fight II, Cotto which was the Lineal Champ wasn't controversial, Trout who was unbeaten and the #1 JMW wasn't controversal, Chavez above 160 not controversal.
The simple fact is when you break down Canelos resume he probably has the best active resume of current generation fighters close fights or not.

    #1 JMW 3x going 2-1
    #1MW 3x going 2-0-1
    WBC/WBA Champ at 154
    WBC/WBA/Lineal Champ at 160
Could become a WBA Titlist at 168
Wins over Vazquez 2x, Rhodes, Mosley, Chavez, Khan, Angulo, Cotto, Trout, Lara, GGG, Lopez, multiple champs and titlist beaten consistantly taking on top comp, the kid is definitely on his way to ATGness. People consider GGG and Ward ATGs and they don't have half the resume, give the kid his due.

I see some people comparing Canelo to Mayweather- dont Mayweather boxed his ears off.
Mayweather beat the very respected Hernandez .Crushed Manfredy in two. Destroyed Deigo.
Canelo has done what? Got a "draw" with GGG when he should have lost .
Got outboxed by a smaller Mayweather?
Got a gift against Lara .
Wow .He beat GGG when GGG is nearing the end.

To have done everything Canelo has done at the age he has done it is an amazing achievement. If he retired today he would have an argument for ATG status, but in the next 5 years I see him further cementing his ATG position and removing any argument.

People can pick holes in any resume and Mayweather himself has disputed victories on his ledger.
