what do you mean it happened? thats when eubank was heavier not when prime. YOU categorically asked about prime eubank, so STICK with the definition you pick next time.dont shift category and pretend thats a valid point!

Theres no point in writing it happened becos we know it did and he lost.

23 fights is not green, categorically, and 24 years old is physical prime, but i acknowledge he got smarter in his 30s.

I give a prime Eubank a decent shot at Joe Cal. I don't rate Joe nearly as highly as most on this board. Kessler grew frustrated and lowered his offensive output. That heart you mention, that would have kept Eubank coming forward.

We'll never know. But I can't rate Eubank as a quality win for Joe. Nor Jones. Both were completely finished IMO.

There you go, someone that can reply and make sense. I actually rate Joe as the best Super Middle ever, only my opinion though !

    both are similar
    both fight hot and cold
    calzaghe becAUSE of his longevity
also calzaghe because although never a body beautiful he could fight 36 mins at a huge pace while throwing a ton .
while fury has been fat and fleshy for many fights and that IMO will hurt him v wilder

he will get trapped against the ropes and caught at somepoint because he will not have the stamina to be on his bike and mentally sharp for the 12 rounds

calzaghe IMO would easily outpoint a wilder type opponent avoiding his bombs and piling on points

a fit fury i think could have / but fury is fat and soft and only one person is to blame for that

Eubank was 32, hardly ancient and he was totally dominated by Calzaghe in his first true step up to world class.

Some guys get shot overnight. It happens. Look at Roy Jones Jr. Top of the world, gets KO'd, never the same.

Eubank took the Joe Cal fight and needed to cut a ton of weight quickly. He lost handily to Joe and never won another fight. I really look at what a guy does after a certain fight, not just before.

I wouldn't bet on Eubank to beat Joe under better conditions, but I think he gives Joe a tougher fight if he was 28 and had a full camp to prepare.

Thanks. I know many people who rate Joe higher than I do and consider it merely a difference in opinion.

But Eubank then went on to give Thompson 2 outstanding fights, he wasn't prime but at the same time certainly not shot.

Fighters don't push even pre prime Calzaghe or a tough heavy punching Cruiser if they are shot agreed. I was ringside for Thompson Eubank 1, and he was still very much capable.

Totally agree. The only flaw I think he had was sometimes switching off, but if he was worried he was on it bigtime. Very intense fighter when he needed to be to to turn a fight around
