True, but Moore had about 12 fights at the time and Duran had about 80! Also, Moore failed the first weigh in and had to sweat off a few pounds. It was awful the way Duran got away with closing Davey’s eye with a thumb, lacing his face, etc. Also, his cornermen seemrd completely unconcerned for him as they let the less-experienced, weakened, repeatedly fouled Moore take a beating round after round.

Moore wasn't the cleanest fighter himself in that bout, you may want to revisit it. :deal:

That said, you're right, Davey's corner let him down big time when it became apparent that he wasn't in with a chance anymore, and the referee was even worse. Moore was as brave as F and I believe he was one of the guys that would fight until he died. He did his job; its his support crew that let him down.

Fights that went to the card....but either way I don’t think this qualifies although it was a great performance. Not sure McCallum agrees either.

McCallum (rings best I faced) Strongest: Michael Watson -- Oh my God, he was so strong. That’s why that fight was so hard. It was a gruesome fight, 11 rounds of back-and-forth hell.

Please excuse me, my man, I had no idea that you stipulated fights that went the distance.

As so often with those "best I faced" things, the fighters aggrandise the opponents they beat and come up with dubious excuses for the fights they lost. Mike looked absolutely imperious against Watson, winning every minute of every round. I thought it should of been stopped a couple of rounds before it actually ended, when Watson collapsed seemingly from exhaustion more than anything, although losing his gum shield can't have helped matters.

No excuse required I just didn’t want to keep getting 4-5 rounders.

I am a big fan of both guys, and think Watson did good in the early going. Before the more seasoned (and superior?) McCallum took the fight over.

    Either way appreciate your insights!

I actually wasn't surprised DLH really looked like he was having trouble pulling the trigger in his against Forbes.

That was the fight that jumped to mind for me. And then Mosley-Margo. That was a nice stretch for Richardson.

Vitali Klitschko vs Shannon Briggs a completely one sided fight and shutout.
A brutal beating and Briggs took a inordinate amount of punishment.

Ray boom boom Mancini vs J L Ramirez. Not quite systematic (but then again maybe it is?), but a very efficient and effective one sided display

I had forgotten how lopsided Marco Antonio Barrera vs Johnny Tapia was.

I really didn’t enjoy this fight. I recall they were a little too friendly and Barrera held back a little. Tapia was a fighter I liked a lot but he never had a chance. I remember the wretched gift decision he got against Manuel Medina before this fight.

Armstrong vs Ross. Barney really held on through that, the hard little *******, it was a proper beating.

Ortiz vs Old Bones. You'd think that a skilled physical tank like Ortiz with the rounded offensive arsenal and heavy hands he had would've really gone after an older, fading boxer-puncher type, but he just jabbed Brown's head off for 15 rounds and took away his counter-left hook by winding in his own hook and straight right. He muscled Brown about when necessary to put him off and tire him out and flung a few nasty combinations, but really showed the crafty old veteran a lot of respect by and large. It really showed what a tremendous fencer/outfighter Carlos was when he wanted to be, Brown was a great Gavilanesque outfighter himself and he never got a look in, faded though he was.
