the onus is on crawford to prove he is the best welter, unless it can be proven that spence is ducking the fight, then spence remains as the best welter of this new era. beating crawford means beating a top 2 p4p fighter in his best weight, something cotto could only dream of doing, then got woken up.

A lot of new blood will flow into the welterweight division in the next few years. There will be lightweights moving up like Crawford and young middleweights passing through the division. There are rarely more than two or three impressive guys in a given year but if you stick around a division for long enough the opportunities are there. And the pace at which modern divas fight isn't even enough to take care of all the contenders. I wouldn't worry about there only being 1 or 2 good fights available at the moment. By the time the cowards stop posturing and ducking each other three or four other mega fights will have fallen through.

Yes with the way current boxing politics is its seems difficult to establish a great legacy. Bandeedo seems to be pointing to Thurman and Crawford as legacy fights. But I just dont think that will happen. Crawford by the time he fights Spence will be old. And Thurmans so inactive that he looks rusty and has lost all hunger and has regressed and looks like a flat out declining fighter. The eye of the tiger that was there 4 or 5 years ago is gone. Its like hes gotten complacent, got married and sat on those fat Al Haymon paychecks to fight at most once a year.

I say this as a pac fan but mikey>spence would be a better win.

I've never rated Cotto and knew pac would beat him down in one sided fashion. Cottos best wins all have a "*" next to them, he was a HBO fabrication as he shifted PPV'S but never really an elite fighter.

Cotto got a controversial decision over Mosely, and got his arse whooped by Margarito. Spence applies more effective pressure than the slow, plodding looping punching Margarito.

And what makes you think an EPO Mosely wouldn't put Spence in a coma? We don't know because Spence hasn't fought anyone.

But we do know that a drained and damaged Brook took that ass deep.

Spence is better than Cotto. Also Pac had fought at 147 before against Dela Hoya. Even if Dela Hoya was drained he proved his worth. I would actually prefer the Commey fight then he would be forced to fight Loma next. Not so sure Mikey wants to fight Loma. I really want to see that fight.

I'd rather see Lomachenko move back down to 130 and fight Berchelt, Machado etc. How do you leave a weight class without fighting the top guys?

Lol Machado? That guy isn't that good. Berchelt is good but really his best wins are against aging 130 pounders like Miura and Vargas who almost killed each other. Mikey vs Loma is the fight I want to see. Also I doubt Berchelt and Machado want to fight Loma. Everyone and their mother who can survive without that Loma payday is ducking Loma, that's why I gave Linares a HELL of a lot of respect for fighting him.

Mikey beating Spence would be a big upset and a better win.

The size difference between the two looks more apparent to me, plus Spence is a harder puncher than Cotto, though not as skilled.

If he pulls it off I may reconsider my odds of him against Loma. lol

if he pulls it off he is p4p #1. this would be his 5th division in a dozen fights where he pretty much makes himself the man with only dropping a few rds here and there. you had better do a lot of reconsidering of odds.

Did he say this before or after Loma went to 130? Respect to Berchelt if he's true to his word. I just don't think Loma is trying to bounce around divisions from 135 back to 130. He seems to be trying to get acclimated to 135 for a possible 140 fight. Berchelt doesn't have to move up to 135 either since he can fight Tank and Machado.

He would definitely shoot up to #1 p4p if he somehow pulled it off.
