Jacob showed why he is CURRENTLY regarded as the deadliest GATEKEEPER of 160lb division where golovkin is the KING. He splashed a live fighter last night with relative ease with a good early KD in Derev and boxed to a relative easy points victory. If Charlo, and co want speak to the king you got to get past Jacob.
Lol a little? He arguably beat GGG. He's clearly elite. Even if you had GGG winning it was super competitive and close. If you don't consider GGG elite than I guess I can understand you not labeling Jacob as elite.
I was pointing out that this is a silly thread and you've decided to try and call me on it. Good one.
Do you know what a gatekeeper is? It's basically a guy who stands around the top 15-20 of a division consistently, he'll beat anyone who isn't an elite level, champion, top contender but will lose to the best in the division. Jacobs is a top contender/champion who is bordering on elite. A good example of a gatekeeper is probably Chisora who has lost all his biggest fights - Vitali, Fury, Haye, Pulev, Whyte, Kabayel and even then he's capable of beating other good contenders like Takam and Helen is (robbery) or anyone who isn't at that level. Jacobs is a good level better than that and I felt harsh labelling Derek but it's the closest example I could think of.
GGG would have knocked Jacob's last two opponents into oblivion instead of struggling like Jacobs and they would have been branded as bums. I myself would probably not have given him that much credit. Jacobs is a bit overrated, though I like him.
Well if you move the goalposts you could say everyone other than the guy you think is p4p number is a gatekeeper at some level.
I think he is, and he is not getting the recognition he deserves I feel. That was a top draw win yesterday.
