Who has more Power, Wilder or Joshua?

i think aj hits harder. wilders style is how i used to street fight because i didnt have the power to stop you cold, but any of my shots would freeze you for a split second, where i could end it by overwhelming you before your head ever gets a chance to clear. the thing that made my tactic successful was my advantage in speed, just like wilder. its not a skill reliant strategy and easily defeated by giving me some head movement and a taste of your own equal power, like aj can do.
i think aj has stop you cold kind of power, he can turn off the lights completely, but he doesnt have the speed to catch you unaware its coming, so there is always a millisecond there where youre head turns slightly or you brace up a little to take just a bit of steam off it.
both can end you if they catch you right, but i think aj has more torque in his punches, just not as quick. i dont think wilder has the punch variety to beat an aj with a solid defensive plan and preparation.

It’s difficult to say; Joshua has the strength advantage, but Wilder has the speed advantage. I reckon Wilder’s more likely to catch a fighter cold than Joshua as a result, which will have a greater impact. There’s so many ifs and buts.

Both hit ridiculously hard. I’d probably say Wilder’s power punches deliver more precise damage, which can cause more effective Knockouts. Whereas Joshua’s punches deliver more overall damage.

 

I really don't understand how ppl think Wilder hits harder , the resumes tell everything and when you actually look at that it has two legit stoppages in title fights with the rest being mostly knockouts from illegal shots...but it's a forum...insanity rules!

 

it still takes unusual power to stop that many professional fighters, even under those circumstances. is his power overated in comparison to other great hw? yes, i believe so... i believe aj's is too.

 

The heavier the opponents are the less knockouts happen and it drops....

Take what is commonly known as the hardest puncher to what it who people think of and it's Foreman....

He has a very thin k.o ratio when guys were over 225.....this is important if we compare other guys and use terms of overrated.

Not sure you can overrate Joshua bc all but one opponent ranked high he didnt k.O and that was Parker who was never knocked out.

Joshua is the first to k.o Povetkin and only one to k.o Whyte and Breazeale .You can look at several fights in Wilder and see ppl still coming at him...

No one but Takam actually played that game besides Breazeale who got mugged and Takam was lucky the bell rang in round 4 ......

it's pretty clear Joshua is a elite puncher and he's the best knockout artist without question .

Wilder s reputation is actually built on hype bc anyone who ACTUALLY watches his fights would see he's not a clean hitter and most guys are very aware where they are when they get stopped, including Ortiz his best win bc he was on one knee out of breath looking at the crowd.

If Joshua was allowed to let loose on guys in the U.K like Wilder is in the U.S , you would see more Povetkin like K.O's ....


As most people have said getting hit by Joshua it's like bricks so in 22 fights not sure how you can overate him with better then most HW's at this stage. The notion Wilder decapitates guys easily is misleading just watch the fights ppl.....lol

if Wilder knocks out Fury he has some legitimate argument but 48 year old Ortiz is unproven that's just a fact in fighting other heavy hitters....

 

Agree with other comments. Wilders straight right comes fast and travels far. When he's hitting pads, its by far his best shot, and when he's not over reaching, it's got nice technique.

Joshua has heavy hands. You can tell when he lands a jab his opponents usually start backing up and that's just from a jab. For me that's a sign, when somebody has power or has the type of shots the opponent doesn't want to eat all night.

Wilders straight right is probably more dangerous for its speed and length, but Joshua heavy hands and has more shots in his toolbag. Plus Joshua outweighs Wilder massively so he should hit harder.

 

Joshua, of course. Wilder's "power" is an illusion created by facing carefully selected stiffs, mediocre glass jawed journeymen and ailing contenders like dehydrated Bermane Stiverne and ancient high blood pressure sufferer Grandpa Ortiz.

 

Well we've never seen either crack a chin that was truly granite but I think Wilder looks the harder puncher on the eye test.

 

Jabs are a very good indication of power though no always...however if one can hurt a guy like Breazeale with a leading jab i would say that guy hits harder then Wilder....

Wilder has the harder single shot but Joshua is overall heavier handed

I don't recall anyone taking flush shots off joshua and not being hurt, where I can with wilder

 

Molina would say Wilder bc they were friends....

However video shows otherwise with a Joshua casually punching him out while Wilder is going for Home runs!

 

for me, this is the standard for punching power in the big boys club. i think tyson was the last to reach such rarefied air. dont see anyone around in that league.

It's not even close. Wilder fights stiffs with worse glass jaws than he has. Joshua actually faces live bodies and knocks them out.
