They seem desperate to one up Joshua and prove to others that they're big time, and in doing so they're completely ignoring the fundamental principles of good business. They've failed to put in the groundwork raising either man's profile to a level justifying the type of event they seem intent on staging, and seem instead to be trading on a sudden beef that none of the public seem to be buying, or are even aware of. There's money and fame to be had from this fight, but the way this whole promotion has been handled has been amateur hour from start to finish. All the signs add up to a massive bomb, and regardless of who wins they're going to put themselves in a demonstrably weaker position regarding Joshua.
Do u know if Ab training back in Co or is he steady in FL? I know he bought a house in Miami but I think He should get back with Stafford imo.
bt sport ppv ? i thought it would be sky sports what time will the fight start in california ? mcgregor v mayweather took place about 6.30am uk time so late that i was at work when it took place and had to listen on the radio i think fury will do quite well in the uk america i have no idea / american box office charges to much money and is not fair on what is and has been a tradionally working class sport which by definition is not a sector with losts of spare cash. what numbers do they need to make around £15 million uk each $20 million usa ?
30 days out and the undercard is a mess and any additions dodgy. There should have been at least one solid prelim fight but I get the feeling that the dollars are so tight that they can't afford one. They dug up Arreola, an Angelino with a cheap price tag but he's been so off the radar he's negligible at best. The big question mark is will America cough up money in PPV's. Fury will deliver on GB as best he can and he's working hard on charming America. The weak link here is Wilder's star power. This fight will tell us a lot about his fanbase.
It feels like they're waiting to sell tickets before confirming any undercard fights? I would've thought the outlay on a good Mexican or Mexican American fight would've paid dividends on pushing this in Southern California? Get it on the undercard early, get the venue sold out and get more fans interested. Not sure what the rationale for having this in LA was either, beyond Staples making the highest bid? Once they've ruled out Vegas I'd have thought New York would've been slightly better on the timezone for UK PPV sales and is more accessible for travelling Brits. Still hopefully this comes together and the media appearances help to capture US attention. It would be good for boxing if these guys can make a big event and make the HW division relevant in the US again.
This fight is more of a boxing purists fight meaning the true fans of the sport know about them and not the average/casual fan. They really need to step up there marketing while there’s still time.
Wilder has 2 wins over top 10 ranked opponents. And Fury is a schmuck. Unless you are a boxing fan, you obviously have no idea who these guys are. If you are a boxing fan, you appreciate the above statements about their shallow resumes. And if you are an HBO-casual, there's a chance you can know your stuff and still never have seen either one of their fights. I think the fight does the same or probably less PPV numbers as Golovkin/Lemieux in the USA. I think it will be an absolutely terrible disaster.
AB doesn't own a house in Miami, he rents when he goes there. And he's not in camp. I don't think the pacquiao fight is actually to happen.
Interesting I must have misheard, I thought he owned in ATL & Miami. He stopped having camp at osb after Garcia, funny he saw the advantages of high altitude training after pounce de Leon
Los Angeles wasn’t the best place to have the fight. But then again since it’s taking place in December New York will probably be freezing with a foot of snow. Still though I neve I thought this fight would be a big blockbuster in terms of money
