What happened to Tommy Morrison vs Michael Bent

Bentt was a well schooled am who could deliver a counter at a wide open target.

Morrison claimed to have had strippers in his dressing room before the fight.

 

Bentt got exposed by Herbie Hide.

 

Morrison had a weak chin and was easy to hit which is why he was stopped by Lewis and Mercer.

 

Morrison was making the first defense of his title in front of his hometown and got caught early. I remember watching the fight on USA Tuesday Night fights. The curse of fighting in front of your hometown. Then Bentt had to fight Herbie Hide who stopped him. Then Riddick Bowe beat the **** out of Hide to take his title.

 

He got beat by a guy who already had brain damage.

 

He just got caught cold. It happens.

 

Morrison was out late the night before and drinking beer according to the ESPN documentary TOMMY which I just got from Amazon a couple weeks ago. A stupid way to prepare for any opponent.

 

The fight was actually on HBO Morrison had already signed to fight Lennox Lewis next for an 8million dollar payday. Lampley and the crew were really on the Tommy Train! Morrison buzzed Bentt early but got careless and got countered pefectly. Bentt has fast hands!! And he lit Tommy up for 3 knockdowns.. Bye bye Lewis fight.

He did eventually fight Lewis but not until ‘95..

 

He came in overconfident ,probably under trained ,hurt Bentt early then got tagged .He never recovered from being stunned and Bentt straight away did the right thing and let loose on Tommy .But these things happen in boxing .

 

No claim! he came to Knoxville once to work with Ace Miller, all he worked with were prostitutes

 

He was a very good fighter when he was focused as he proved against Foreman but always had a dicey chin and could fight down to opposition as he proved a number of times as well .. he was a wild man outside the ring and a heavy partier .. Bent on the other hand was a pretty talented under achiever .. a very good amateur who's family won a lottery , came into a lot of money and he himself lost interest in the sport .. he was up for Morrison, Morrison expected a cakewalk , came in stupid, unfocused and got caught ..

He got hit on that chin while trying to finish off an opponent who wasnt as hurt as morrison thought

I think Morrison was a little too aggressive since it was in Oklahoma. I remember watching the fight on HBO and he was pretty fired up. He couldn't take much though. Joe Hipp hurt him & Hipp wasn't much of a puncher.
