I am no Matchroom fan (that is an understatement) but I think Hughie would be better off signing a 5 or so fight deal with them. Not sure of the commercial agreements and if either/both are interested. I know that the Fury's have had their issues with Hearn. I just think Hughie needs some time off the main event and regular fights to help keep him active and build his profile. He has not been disgraced by any means but this is a Hughie is at a crossroads point in his career. He needs to learn, without pressure and also build his ranking and confidence back up. I don't think he has matured physically yet and he could do with more conditioning. in the last 30 months he has only fought Parker and Pulev with Sexton squeezed in between. Which is ridiculous for a lad who has just turned 24. He might be 20 odds fights in but he is a kid and all accounts has serious health issues. In all honesty he could be scarred now, who knows. But the Channel 5 route is not the method for him imo.
Why go through all that trouble, he's ****. My honest opinion of why is where is he is? He's not the brightest of lads and he genuinely believes all this garbage that's been fed into him since day 0 that he's the next coming of Ali. I honestly think that he believes he can emulate him, despite having almost none of his attributes, and lacks the ability to reflect and find a style that actually suits him. What this is I have no idea but it certainly isn't jabbing from the hip, having no inside game, almost comically bad punching accuracy and then blaming injuries. Eddie's not going to go near him, he has a proven track record of stinking the joint out with his negative, off-balance, gun-shy style. I wanted to believe the hype as well after Sexton but this is the 3rd time we've been sold hypejobs now in almost as many weeks including Dubois and Bakole and I'm getting sick of it. No wonder the Yanks belly-laugh when we talk about our HW's. 24 isn't a kid, and certainly not in boxing terms. You can't magically gift someone power and co-ordination, which he has almost zero of.
24 is a kid for a heavyweight. I don't think there is one boxer ranked above him with Boxrec (for guide and he is #28) purposes in the Heavyweight rankings who is younger than him. I don't think there is anyone even close. They do need a reality check and he has to improve conditioning.
Would Frank sign him to get Gorman or Dubois a bigger name on their CVs? Fairly sure I have seen Gorman say he would fight them despite being close to the.
I think it was once hinted that Fury prefers to be a big fish in a small pond than being fourth or fifth in the heavyweight pecking order with Matchroom. Channel 5 for it’s faults is quite a big platform ratings wise for boxing and I doubt he’d earn any more being on a Matchroom card as support than as a main eventer on Channel 5. He needs to operate at European level for the foreseeable future and step up only when he’s ready.
It’s quite funny hearing Tyson Fury on Joe Rogan’s show last week talking about what a boring fighter Wlad was. Compared to Hughie Wlad looks like the result of a genetic experiment combining the best assests of Ali and Tyson (Mike that is).
Hughie should also be fighting a lot more than what he does. This cut will understandably put him out for a while but he needs to start fighting more often and at a level below than what he's fighting at now. Put him in with some solid Euro fighters and then build from there.
Calm down dear. You cleary dont like Fury and tbh i think you dont like gypsys in general. I saw you in the round by round thread hating on him too. He really isnt as bad as you make out. He went to Pulevs back yard and gave it a go. He didn't 'run' like people claim he did in the Parker fight he stood and traded and now people knocking him for that! The better man won on the night its as simple as that. Fury is still only 24, he will learn from this and come back stronger...oh and you think the yanks are laughing at us?! More like we laughing at them, we got the best heavyweights in the world wtf you talking about lol.
Ahh little potty, your post has been saved for posterity to make a laughing stock out of you when the time is right, not that you need much assistance. This Carnie says you're too short for this ride.
The Americans really shouldn't be laughing at anyone's heavyweights tbh, their last truly great one was Evander in 1997, thats 21 years ago.
