    It's just that he wants to sell you his breathing apparatus that you guessed it, mimics training at high altitude. rofl...

    “Man, I have so much energy,” Donaire chirps from the front of the bus, unable to sit still. He turns around to address his team, first singing playfully in Spanish, then his native Tagalog, then talking in English while imitating the Beatles, then singing like the Beatles, then fading back into a Filipino ditty.

    “I feel amazing, I feel incredible,” Donaire says. “Now I’m at like 21,000 feet.”

    “As the fight gets closer, we’ll bring him up to 22,000 feet,” Conte says.

    Altitude is important to Conte: Since Balco, he’s embraced “intermittent hypoxic training,” which starves the body of oxygen by simulating mountain conditions with the help of a breathing mask, triggering the production of red blood cells and erythropoietin, or EPO—a natural energy booster. “For years, you had guys like Oscar de la Hoya and Shane Mosley and all these champions setting up camps at Big Bear,” Conte says. “Up there is the worst place you can go. The problem is there is no time to get a good rest. At that altitude, your body can’t relax. With the machine, we take you all the way up and bring you all the way down.”

    Any of you ****s actually listen to the interview? He makes some solid points.
    Running is just good for burning off calories and keeps you in shape. I love running and it barely does anything for me when i am in the gym boxing.

    The idea of high-altitude training is that it encourages your body to harness oxygen more efficiently. When you return to sea level, your body is still in efficiency mody and so you can achieve things seemingly with minimal effort.

    I've experienced this myself - I've spent a week or so at 3000 metres, doing walking and climbing up to 5000, and during the week these activities got easier as my body adapted (at first, just walking at 5000m can make you a little short of breath). The benefit once we returned to sea level was palpable - for about two days. Then my body was back to its normal self.

    Pro high-altitude mountaineers say the same thing - they can spend weeks at high-altitude base camps in preparation for climbing something really high, but the benefit is lost soon after heading back down.

    Show me the fight where Golovkin threw hundreds and hundreds of punches. He has always been a calculated fighter, he throws when wants to. His two toughest fights are the one he was low output. GGG isn’t known for his gas tank, he has always had a good gas tank but nothing special.

    Against Curtis Stevens he threw like 100 power punches in the last round. But that was when he was young.

    Red blood cell count. They transport the oxygen round your circulatory system, so high altitude training = more oxygen to your muscles.

    In the second fight certainly, but age and Canelo's good body work will do that. He was still throwing hard in the 12th but I guess that comes down to grit too.

    Haven't heard about this 'trick' but I recall against both Murray and Monroe he was taking real big gulps of air early on between rounds, then seemed fine when boxing again, if that's worth anything

    I think it was the body shots and it was the fact Canelo was pushing back and making him throw when he wasn’t necessarily set up to throw. I didn’t see him blowing like that against Jacobs or Canelo in the first fight

    Yeah, that's true. That's why I thought Sanchez asking him to stand and fight in range of body shots was kind of a stupid idea. Some people have given him stick for it but I thought jab and move was the right thing to do in all honesty.

    But yeah to go back, you're right. He has good or very good stamina in my books but not out of this world stamina

    Sergey did the same vs Jacobs. And while RJJ was adamantly claiming that Sergey was gassing, Sergey was busy outworking Jacobs in every round.

    The practice of taking in big breaths is usually employed during between the rounds.
    I myself practice it while running, i feel it helps out quite a bit.

    Thank you, I didn't know that was a thing fighters did.

    I wasn't privy to RJJ unfortunately. I had to suffer Spencer Oliver who had Jacobs up by 16 rounds going into the 3rd

    I know it's also common practice in EE style boxing gyms. Every trainer i have worked with has had me do deep breathing between exercises.

    It’s hard because Sanchez actually thought GGG would break Canelo down if they went Mano to Mano, so when he saw Canelo was actually engaging he probably thought this was a dream come true. Problem is he underestimated Canelo and I think that’s why he was singing Canelos praises coz Canelo did what he thought he wouldn’t and couldn’t do. I actually appreciate that Sanchez realised he was wrong about Canelo and was man enough to admit it as best as he could without saying Canelo won.

    I think GGG has good stamina like 7/10. Someone with excellent stamina atm is Spence, Rungvisai, Munguia, Usyk, Hurd, for a big man Kownacki has too. Those are some of the top names that come to memory.
