I just watched Daniel Dubios sister on London news, talking about how she wants to fight in the world championships, and in the clips of her matches she was far better than Daniel.
I think it shouldn't exist, or if it has to, it deserves the lack of popularity it gets Ive only seen a handful of women's boxing matches, and it's one of the worst things I've ever seen. I'd force someone to watch it if they lost a dare. That being said outside of the boxing ability, it needs more personalities too
I am not personally a fan, as the skill level does not resonate with me. But I do enjoy women’s MMA more than men’s, women’s volleyball more than men, same with tennis. I probably won’t watch a women’s American football, but enjoy women’s soccer more than men’s. Track and field about even. As a father of 4, 2 boys and 2 girls...I support them in everything they do! A woman should be able to compete in anything she chooses, whether or not people tune in is up to them. I always tell all my children to dream big, find what you love and do it...to many people hate thier jobs and lives. Don’t be like them life is awesome, live it out loud and do what you love!
The talent pool is too small, and I don't like 2min rounds. That said, I have no issue with it existing.
I don't care if women box, but I don't want them taking up spots on HBO or Showtime, or taking up pages in Ring Mag. I feel like they are just being forced on us, and I pay for those channels and really have no interest in watching women pitty-pat thru 10 rounds. Made it thru one round of the one on HBO the other night and just ff'd thru the rest. Oscar now has a women's section in the incredible shrinking Ring mag. now and it is a total waste of the few pages left in the mag. No interest at all
Sums up how I feel too my man. As far as MMA I'd rather watch Cyborg or Schevchenko more than any Male fighter to be honest. Those two girls bring it.
Call me old fashioned but no. To many things changed for the worse in our 'PC' world. Too many women strut around acting like men as it is.
I don't like the two-minute rounds. The gloves appear to be too big. Between the high trunks and the sports bras there are very few effective body punches thrown, so it's mostly one-twos thrown at the head. There is a terrible lack of depth, so any time there's one good fighter in two weight classes they tend to match them whether there's a big size difference or not. Very few true punchers. If there's a KO, it's usually because one of the participants is just terrible, not because two greats are fighting and one just got caught. Any time it's on it just seems closer to amateur boxing than professional boxing. Not a fan. (But my wife likes it, although she says they should swap out sexy men holding the round cards when women fight, and not have sexy women round card girls for women's fights.)
I agree. There are several women's sports I prefer to watch over men's sports. And women MMA fighters tend to be just as exciting as men. In boxing, for some reason, it just doesn't work for me. Like I said the target range because of the sports bras and the high trunks limits body punching. And I don't know why women wear high trunks to begin with, because they don't have balls. So how dangerous are low blows, really? The gloves all seem oversized, so there don't seem to be a lot of effective scoring. Nothing about it works, to me.
Double edged sword. Of course they should have the right to box but clearly there is a lack of appetite for female boxing. Despite this, they are gonna be more & more forced on to our screens because of the way society is being shaped. It’s abysmal.
I heard young Caroline Dubois got schooled in sparring by the mysterious Sally Pickles; Daughter of Billy.
Yeah, but loads of terrible, uninteresting prospects get shoved in our faces on undercards anyway, atleast in the UK. Katie Taylor is more deserving of the spotlight than Conor Benn, and some others.
