When this PPV does 200k US, hopefully Wilder will be less delusional about his demands vs AJ.

I'd be amazed if it did 500k in the US, even 300k would be a success for this event. Wilder is unknown and has never headlined a PPV before.

One would hope, but with Wilder you never know.

I hope I'm proved wrong and this PPV is a success, it would be amazing to have a genuinely big heavyweight fight again that matters to the fans on both sides of the Atlantic. But I suspect my worst fears will be proven and this PPV will fail to capture the imagination of the casual US fans. Anything over 300K I think would be a moderate success, less than 200K would be a disaster.

He never even sold out for the abandoned rematch against Klitchko after winning all the belts.
I think a lot of people over estimate his appeal, he has NEVER and I mean EVER been in exciting fights and he is polarizing and off putting to the casual audience.
UK will not do more than 100,000 buys IMO

I thought Fury vs Pajkic was quite the slugfest though.

It was a low quality affair if that's what you mean but I will admit I enjoyed that fight, and ask a casual about that fight and they will look at you like I imagine Deontay Wilder looks like when you try and explain what grammar is.

I am no Fury hater by any means I hope he beats Wilder who I think is overhyped but Fury is not a big draw historically, I hope I am wrong and both men get a huge pay day out of it.

Less. Espinoza said he would be delighted with 400k. The bar won't be set too high as they know fighters in their first PPV don't do huge numbers. Let alone when one is fighting an unknown in Fury.

i keep thinking 225k is about what i see as numbers in america. dont know how much interest there is in uk. wilder doesnt have the cred to sell a $60 fight against a guy who looked like fury looked last fight.
not hating, and hope its more than that, but its just how i see it without having put too much thought into it.

I think he became more popular during his period of inactivity. He used social media to grow his fan base and with him being inactive people kind of forgot how boring he can be in the ring. His last 2 fights sold well and there seemed to be big crowds even during the public workouts which we didn't see before for Fury fights.

I think it will do more than 100K in the UK, think it would of done more than 400K had it been in the UK but with it being in the US at a terrible time, it's going to take a big cut out of the numbers. Maybe it will do 200-300K in the UK now.

The real problem will be the US PPV side if the UK side outsells the US side that's going to look very bad for Wilder if he wins.

Let's break this down logically. Wilder has never been on PPV nor has he ever sold out an arena or gym. Fury has fought his last two fights on under cards while getting booed for not getting a KO. Neither has a fan base in LA. The fight will be shown at 4AM in the UK and 11 or 12PM on the east coast. The fight itself is nowhere near a sell out at the Staple Center. A terrible under card with no Mexican fighters in Southern California? So add all of this up and what do you get? 2.5 million PPV buys????? Nah, it'll be closer to 100k if they are lucky.

What happens if it does bigger PPV sales in the UK than it does in America? Im sure all PPV,s will be totalled up for a complete figure but i suspect there are not many real proper Deontay Wilder fans in the UK so what ever numbers UK PPV does would very mostly be down to Fury. How is Finkel guna shove that in the face of Eddie Hearn? Which at the end of the day is what this is all about.

personally i cant see it doing good PPV numbers in the UK though. Brightons right, Fury has got alot more popular during his time out of the sport than he ever was before but his 2 comeback fights were terrible viewing i just cant see casuals staying up till 4 0r 5 AM and pay 18 pound PPV too for Tyson Fury.

To be honest with the undercard being so poor im not even sure if im guna buy it. Some good names on the undercard but in awful fights if they get made at all. |I dont want to see good names i want to see good names in good fights or just good fights.

500k buys at 60 dollars > 1million buys at 20 pounds. Eddie conveniently neglects that fact.

I'm not saying the Wilder/Fury fight will do 500k buys. But you can't compare UK/US ppv numbers like for like, when the US pay more than double for their ppv's to what the UK pay.

If, by some miracle, this fight does 800k ppv buys, it would bring in more PPV money than any Joshua fight. Its all very unlikely I know. But worth noting.

Very true, his fame has gone up during his time of inactivity. I do feel this is down to Joshua’s rise to fame though; every protagonist needs his antagonists. As soon as there’s major interest in one fighter, people want to know who his rival is.

Would be lucky to sell above 500k. The best bet is for Fury to keep doing all these interviews.
