Roberto Duran. Howard Cowell called him a lightweight Marciano but Roberto had so much more variety to his game! JCCsr. Showed later in his career that he was a decent boxer off the back foot
I would use him as a perfect example of a truly one dimensional fighter. I wouldn't back him to outbox anyone good off the back foot Gennady Golovkin is another one. I had him losing the Canelo rematch but he did show that he isn't completely useless if he gets backed up.
Dwight Muhammad Qawi. Great, underrated jabber. Very crafty. Could do ok even from the outside because of his jab. Sonny Liston. Young Mike Tyson. Miguel Cotto(although his backfoot skills were clear from pretty early on) Fernando Vargas Truly one dimensional imo: Young Foreman, Frazier, Marciano, David Lemieux.
Would you guys consider Tito Trinidad one dimensional? He was a pretty good boxer with a well developed punch selection as seen vs mayorga but he had alot of difficulty adjusting to both winky and Hopkins and didn't show any ability to change his approach
People used to label Manny Pacquiao as one dimensional even when his style evolved over time. He was able to adjust his style from a power punching slugger to a more calculating boxer puncher. Guys like Margarito, Rigondeaux, Tua, Trinidad, Julian Jackson are guys I would consider as one dimensional.
Cotto was not able to use either of his approaches well at the top level. Couldn’t pressure or box effectively enough. He is a classic example of a Jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none.
Get a better eye and more knowledge and come back to me. Perhaps it’s not possible, some people just lack the ability to understand boxing.
And why would i have to do that? Do you have a point? please tell me which part of my post on Frazier and Golovkin you disagree with. Going backwards or forward is among the most basic of the dimensions of boxing. So if someone says Frazier isn't one dimensional but he already fails at being effective when not going forward (we are not even talking about his underdeveloped right hand) Which is why he wasn't one dimensional. The point of my thread
I think he became one dimensional after his win over Montiel, starting with his fight with Narváez. He used to be more a versatile fighter in his previous fight before he fell in love with his power, much like Wilfredo Gomez.
