Funny, I don't see "only" in my post. Why don't you take off your rose-colored glasses. There is a bright big world out there if you do.

AJ is bigger in the UK, but worldwide, Alvarez is more known. Which is besides the point the threat asks anyway. Not asking who fans think is bigger, but who's more an elite fighter.

I think it would be interesting to put Joshua in the prime HW 90's mix with the legends: (oh you know who they are) ala Evander, Tyson, Lennox, Bowe, George MK2,...plus Mercer, Moorer, Morrison (M&M's'?) Stewart, Cooper etc. See how he get's on. But to balance that out, put Canelo in the prime 80's from a growing 'kid' of around 20 but still with 35 odd fights ( so no novice) experience....*with same day weigh ins*.... from 147 to start and getting bigger with age---...Benitez, Leonard, Cuevas, Hearns, Duran... at 147.....Hearns again at 154 plus McCallum...he'd outgrow the new wave of WW'S ( Curry, McCrory, Starling, Honeyghan, Breland etc)....and grow into Hagler 'ready' fight size... Hard enough to think of, that scenario, esp after several cans; So anybody want to dabble in that alternate universe stuff? (obviously, I don't expect a comprehensive, definitive thesis on the whole thought experiment)

Yes but is this what we're talking about? Views? Are we fanboys? What we're talking about is boxing excellence. Boxing wizardry in 4 dimensions. 6'3", 218lb Canelo beats the snot out of AJ and everybody else up there. Or not?

Iam a massive fan of both fighters, I can’t see how it’s even debatable, canelo all day long.
I base this on talent and resume, however I’ve lost abit of love for both recently.
Canelo for his ped use and dishonesty, and the first ggg result( he won the second, but was it fair and square? What benifits did he gain from ped use?)
Joshua for being more concerned with his public image, I really just want him to flip man and get angry) he’s suppose to be the top heavy out there man, come on tell us you want to hurt wilder.
But with canelo you have more question than you should have for a true elite fighter, judging/ped use/hand wraps/avoiding live hungry talent. It’s a shame because talent wise canelo is special man, now no mater what there will always be questions.
The question I would like to know who’s resume will be least disputable??? Currently canelo can’t afford anymore for me, and this DAZN contract looks like it could bring a few more, it’s down to him now. He must choose to be great because he getting paid regardless now. Quality thread.

Neither in my opinion. Both have had "sympathetic" "officials helping them but to AJ;s credit he hasn't popped dirty like Moonelo YET

Canelo's biggest asset is his ability to get hit hard and take it. He has a solid chin. He is not a KO artist. He doesn't move that well. His fundamentals are good, pretty tight defense. But he gets gassed, stamina not that great. What blows me away is if he had lost to GGG in the first fight, as he should have, we wouldn't be having this discussion. At best, AT BEST, he gets a gift draw in the second GGG fight. And because he was gifted two decisions against the champ, GGG, he all of a sudden is seen as some super elite fighter. The reality is Canelo would be a solid fighter, respected by all if he were anything but Mexican. He would probably have 4 losses on his record instead of 1. I get tired of this revisionism as it relates to Clenelo. Follow the money.
