I read a tweet from that Ozzy Smith this week where he confirmed that it was Donaire he had been told was pulling out.

But it seems that he's still going ahead with the fight for now anyway. So apologies for the thread title. I should've put somebody MIGHT be pulling out of the WBSS.

Well it's good that we know it was definitely Donaire, good in that it becomes clearer and less expected if / when it does happen.

I still expect to see Burnett vs Butler next week.

Seen a few people say why are people complaining... But if they don't sort out the TV rights soon this format just dies doesn't it?

Unbelievable that a big card in the UK isn’t being broadcast on regular tv- I hear Channel 5 made an offer but the rights holders didn’t want to know.

It is ridiculous really. They are literally making 0 (I imagine) from showing these on YouTube. If they don't sort it out, it could easily be the last season.

Possibly. Still a load of tickets for all prices available. So they must be making money somewhere

I just assumed this was on 5, like all Taylor's fights.

Surely selling this cheap to ch5 is better than you tube???

The problem is selling all the fights as a package. If the WBSS offered the fights to broadcasters on a fight-by-fight basis I’m sure there would be a ton of more interest from the likes of Sky and BT in particular.

YouTube showing between 25k and 40k views for the fights so far this season

I don’t mind the YouTube stuff as I’m used to watching sport on my laptop. The stream quality last week for Baranchyk-Yigit and Prograis-Flanagan was outstanding.
