Turner says occasional dumb stuff, we all know this. That doesn't change the fact that he's still a trainer with a resume. Foreman contradicts himself alot, does that take away from his achievements?

Just produce the fights he was in the corner for those fighters I asked for. Then I'll agree with you.
Again what Foreman says is irrelevant ,his resume and legacy is there, in the ring ,for everyone to see.
    Turners isn't!
All we have is his mumbled asides to assorted interviewers.
    I'm not buying it!

"Salvador Sanchez was an ordinary fighter"!
    Now that is BS!

Honestly Andre Ward was never anything special. He fought mediocre competition and he's a prime example of how easy it is to go undefeated these days, whereas guys like Marciano and Mayweather cleaned out their division, Ottke and Ward fought nobodies

He was in Holyfield's corner during Tyson 1&2 and the Lewis fights. He'd supervise Holyfield's training too. I thought this was common knowledge. You're making the skeptic argument, you aren't actually contributing an argument of your own

I've shown you that the names I gave do NOT have Turner listed as their trainer EVER.
    How do you explain that?
If Ward was only ordinary, how come he beat Kovalev ,whom Turner said was very special twice ?
Yes Turner was in Holyfield's corner for what 2 fights? He convinced him to dispense with a cut man for the Moorer fights and Holyfield got a cut that he said hampered him all night,a cut Turner could not stop bleeding.
btw Turner was the "assistant trainer for a couple of Kova's fight nothing more.

You guys already named most of the trainers I would have but I will throw another into the mix.

Bill Miller trained/worked with a lot of Detroit fighters most notably James Toney.

i give him credit if only for that awesome corner moment in the last round of the Jirov fight. That is worth it's weight in gold. But he's always been a Kronk/Bill Miller fighter.

Is “Isn’t exactly necessary“ the same as not beneficial?

Good call mentioning Jack Blackburn. He gets overlooked because he died young. He didn't have a chance to work with as many World Champions. Ray Arcel speaks of Jack Blackburn with great respect and awe. Eddie Futch as well. Even young Sugar Ray praised Blackburn's ability to teach a young fighter to be a pro.

Ray Arcel was one of a kind. I think if you had a son who wanted to box you would want Arcel taking care of him.
When Barney Ross lost to Hank, Arcel stayed with him for days shielding him from his wife who was screaming. Ross's face was beat to a pulp.

When Roberto Duran quit in NO Ray Arcel was the only member of his team representing him at the hearing the next morning. Why? "Because he was my fighter when he got here and he was my fighter last night and he is still my fighter until he gets on that plane"

All things considered Ray Arcel is tough to beat.

Arcel is awesome for sure. Blackburn is not only underrated as a trainer but he was one helluva fighter too. As a matter of fact he was a one bad mofo.

Legend has it when his fighters entered the gym to train if they heard him talking loud they knew he was drinking. They would leave. He inspired fear in his own fighters as an older man.

Amilcar Brusa deserves a mention. Trained Monzon along with 13 or 14 other Latin Boxers to become World Champs ,, If you count Dundee, Brusa I believe has the 2nd most

One thing I liked that Robinson shared about his time at Greenwood Lake. He was a young pro and Blackburn used to make him row the boat around the Lake while Blackburn fished. The trainer told him that the rowing would build up his arms.

The reporters would be there to cover Joe Louis and one time Robinson was hitting the heavybag a little too long. He was enjoying the chance to get the media`s attention. He must a have overdid it because Jack Blackburn walked up close to him and gently said that he needs to worry about being ready for his fight not showboating for the writers. Blackburn did it in a way that didn't embarrass the young boxer. I thought that interesting. I would imagine that would earn trust.

Many trainers/coaches in all sports would have taken the chance to chew the kid out. I would have loved to known what Jack Blackburn thought of Sugar Ray when he saw him.
