To me that's a PPV that would only do "ok" IF we were in a drought period of boxing where there hadn't been any high profile fights in several weeks. Buy considering when they are putting it on and that there's going to be a casual friendly heavyweight clash on the same night i cant see it doing well at all. You know chisora and Whyte are going to sell their fight. I just think frank would be better off putting it on regular BT sports or moving to a better date.
I suspect there will be an injury and it’s moved to February. Moving it off PPV won’t happen for obvious reasons.
This is not a PPV, Warren ****ed up again. This is a regular BT fight with winner getting Valdez in US on ESPN+
Frampton probably signed with Warren on the promise of big ppv fight. Likelihood is without PPV the fight cannot be made. BT sport TV rights won't pay for the show. I reckon it does 100k max
It’s not PPV worthy. As good as Frampton is/was, this is two feather fisted little men going to battle out a dull 12 rounder. Whyte v Chisora was a fight of the year candidate two years ago, Chisora coming off a career best win and Whyte also. It’s a much more entertaining prospect even without a belt. None should’ve been PPV in the first place but I know which one I’ll be watching for the entertainment.
Can’t take it off PPV as both guys purses will be based on buys. Warren would take a major hit as he would have to still pay the guys big money. I think this might actually all play into Hearns hands as i think it may make Warren think twice what he puts on PPV going forward and if he had any hopes of enticing matchroom fighters who want better pay to BT with the lure of PPV he might think again.
Maybe they could try and bundle it in with another scheduled PPV or something. Seems odd to me that it was one to begin with really
With Frampton Quigg doing 200k+ as a PPV fight this feels similar so I get the reasoning behind it being PPV. I don't get the logic behind it being so late in the year, after a multitude of PPV fights which are arguably all bigger or more attractive to the casual fan. Why did it have to be December 22?
Frampton Warrignton will be a good fight with great boxing ability on show. Whyte Chisora could be a fun watch but no where near the boxing skills as the Frampton fight. I'll watch both but if I had to chose I would take boxing ability all day long especially with Frampton and Warringtons style.
If Frampton and Warringtons management team agreed to a ppv on a new platform without having cast iron guarantees on a minimum purse they are incompetent.
Big difference us there was a long term rivalry and dislike build up between Frampton and Quigg and theur teams, as well as it being on the UKs established ppv channel. Warrington v Frampton has neither of these things. I am sure afterwards Frank will tell us it done great numbers but i will be surprised if it does 100k buys. I can see BT being annoyed with the numbers. Most BT subscribers won't pay for 2 ppvs in 1 month and will prefer Fury v Wilder (a true ppv event).
Yeah - that's a fair point about the rivalry not being built up. Hard to get away from the idea that outside of Northern Ireland and Leeds not that many people have much awareness of Frampton and Warrington, the latter especially, whilst Chisora and Whyte are bigger names. I never had Whyte down as a guy who was likely to do much PPV business but the Parker fight was a fairly considerable success.
It won't do great numbers, so won't be surprised if it's moved. There is still shitloads of tickets for sale. Doesn't help the ticket prices are high for the UK market either. It's a good fight but needs an extremely good undercard for it to be PPV worthy.
