Sam Langford 5''7" best weight 175/180lbs
Okay, the guy hit like a truck and was a punch picker par excellence, but would it be sensible to expect him to achieve success in today's heavyweight field?
Yes he has the quality, yes he has the power but, given that Fulton jabbed his head off and permanently damaged his eyes. What would be the logical outcome of fights between Sam and the better big guys of today?

I can't see it McVey ,him being a success at Heavyweight today. Giving away way to much in height and weight with the big fellas today .Now put his attributes in to a modern day super heavy body ,and he's the champion of the world right now ! .I see Langford doing OK against most heavy s up to around the 50 s ,after that maybe just to much weight to go up against .

No. There's just too much physically working against him.

I think him and Fitz could knock out Modern Super Heavyweights. Not the best ones, but I'd pick them over guys like Ustinov, and especially someone as limited as Gary Cornish.

How many 5''7" boxers competed in the HW-devision after Langford until today?

Don´t be stupid, 5 billion men have been born in the 20th century.

I think that his prowess as a finisher, would give him a chance against almost anybody!

Be fascinating to see what they'd do with him now. Imagine him at super-featherweight  He would break backs.

In a real-world career context, I just can't see it. In a fantasy one-off, I could see him picking up some wins up to a certain level. But for a frame of reference, weve seen what a 5'7 guy looks like vs larger fighters in Qawi. With Langford, we've got a guy 20 pounds lighter than Qawi fighting bigger guys than Dwight did.

The Fulton mention is a good one, because in my opinion, had the Fulton fights never happened, people would be predicting Fulton as a Langford knockout victim. Granted Fred was a big puncher, but a straight-up fighter with chin issues would've been exactly the type of heavyweight for people to favor Sam over. And that guy put Sam in the hospital instead in reality. Even for a P4P ATG, there's limits.

His problem wouldn't be finishing. It would be starting.
