Damn, that guy could really crack!

What was the general consensus of "The Deputy Sheriff" back in his prime?
What are YOUR thoughts on him overall?
How would he have fared in the modern CW Division? The jump for LHW to HW was too much for him back then.

He seem's to be somewhat forgotten when people talk about huge punchers or when you see KO videos on Youtube, but that guy laid people out! Very entertaining.

Foster was ranked 23rd by ring magazine in a list of the Top 50 fighters of the last 50 years before 1996, the year this list was compiled. info:
    Record:56-8-1 (46)
    Quality of competition: 9
Bouts vs Top 50 fighters: 3
Why He`s Here: At his weight he was virtually unbeatable
What He Could Have Done To Better His Ranking: Beaten at least one or two of those big name heavyweights.
Michael Spinks was rated one below Foster at 24th. Spinks had 21 KO`s out 31 wins. The only cruiser on this list was Holyfield, ranked at 44. Holy had 22 KO`s out of 31 wins at that point, I feel if Foster caught Holy with one of his hooks he would have knocked him out and Holy was tagged fighters that weren`t as clever as Foster offensively, but Holy hasd the power to knock Foster out too, I feel Usyk is the only cruiser that could have beaten Holy and I feel he would have beaten Foster too, but it would have been a great fight, they were/are the same height at 6`3 but Foster had far more power than Usyk has, even so Usyk would have destroyed Foster at heavyweight easily, I feel.

Foster is solidly in the conversation of the most powerful p4p puncher in history.

The thing with Foster is that he was a devious ******* along with the lights out punch, a very good sneaky puncher who was great at setting up shots that the opponent didn't see coming. He showed against the very good Finnegan too that he was patient and could carry his power late if a tough nut didn't crack in the early going.

You could almost say he was aggressively patient.

Actually proactively patient might be better.

Though Michael Spinks could give him a slight run for the money.

It's easy to handle a heavy's punches when that heavy is not committing to them. Joyce fought straight up and down, not planting his feet, and getting leverage(Which shows his lack of experience,he began his pro career in his 30's) to compare him to the power generated by Holyfield and especially Foster is wrong in my opinion like its wrong in my opinion to think Usyk would've defeated a Foster or Holyfield based on that same extremely weak competition.

He might not do that well in today’s cruiserweight division, in the ring they are as heavy as Frazier (if not heavier) and are not without skill.

He’d bang out Bellew, maybe Glowacki, and might well win a shootout with Dorticos based on his superior jab and offensive variety....but Usyk and Briedis would be a bridge too far IMO
