Fury is training in Big Bear and that's how he will fight. He's going to go after Wilder and wrap him up and try to wear him out wrestling and leaning on him and throwing upper cuts to Wilder's chin.

Fury has a huge strength advantage and all Wilder has is power at the end of his windmill shots.

It makes no sense for Fury to stay at a distance.

Fury has no resume and is a much better talker than he is a fighter. But he knows how to screw up his opponent's plans. I see Fury winning a terrible fight on points by simply preventing Wilder from doing anything.

I've never seen Fury fight like that. But if he knows how to replicate Wlad's octopus thing, he could use his weight to tire Wilder out.

This is one of 2 or 3 strategies he will be pondering.

Another one is switching to southpaw for the entire fight.

The Pianeta exhibition did suggest that he would either go the buggy bear inside fight route, or the southpaw route.

Staying on the outside jabbing his head off, where you are possibly one memory lapse away from a big right hand is a high risk strategy.

a big factor in this fight is ring size
i think team wilder will try and get a 20 foot ring while team fury will want a 24 ring

smaller the ring favours wilder /larger fury

i still pick wilder/ fury is not in good enough shape to shake and roll for 12 rounds.

The other is the referee. So much can depend on what he deems acceptable. I don't think there will be a ref friendly to those kind of tactis.

Fury will be windmlled into oblivion, if he tries anything like that on the inside. Those rabbit punches that stopped old grandpa Ortiz, will be a example of what will happen to the gypsy king, if he tries holding on to the devastating bronze bomber!

Every ref in Wilder fight has allowed him a barrage of rabbit punches without even a warning.
This is the main thing Fury has to watch out for or he will get rabbit punch KO'd like Ortiz.

i never rally thought about a ref
but the way i see the fight playing out in my minds eye / i cant see the ref being involved much

both fury or wilder because of there size and height are outide fighters/ just trying to think of instances of when in close they keep there hands free and try to work in the pocket .

wilder v washington / wilder did a nice trick of pulling down washington guard with his left hand and hitting him with a short right that dropped him

fury v cunningham in which fury using his left forearm to push cunningham off balance in close and clumping him with a right for a ko win..

but any ref can make or break a fight if they want to and we all have seen this to be the case in many high profile fights.

I can see Fury implementing that strategy.. and it could turn into a borefest.supressing the action and strike game...

But I disagree that Fury is much stronger than Wilder... Wilder is a strong mofo... Fury is a weak man for his size.

I seen Wilder throw 245.pound Ortiz around the ring like he was a female child.

Don't tell me wilder is weak... he'd out wrestle most heavies.

Its a tough style matchup for Fury, and this style still has its risks for Fury, but its as good a strategy as any I've seen and as you note, he is good at gameplanning to neutralize his opponents strengths.

Eh? Fury has the best inside game in the division and Wilder the worst.
IF Fury can get inside Wilder's wheelhouse he won't grab, he'll go to work. Wilder will be the one trying to grab on for dear life!

Fury is a good inside fighter. He throws a lot of punches up close. He might force the fight to be up close but that doesn't equate to lots of clinching.

Yes, the ref will be on Wilder's side.

If Fury were a wise man, he'd have made certain the ref will be from a neutral country, instead of a some dodgy California ref like Jack Reiss.

Fury has his attributes but imposing superior physical strength has never been one of them.

If he tries to tie up Wilder the only way would be from the side and to some degree from the back. Throw his inside punches to the side and back of Wilder when he's out of position. He then needs an over-involved ref to intervene quickly or spin Wilder and run towards safety.

Fury best gameplan is stay mobile, circle left, circle right, just stay out of the Wilder punch alley. It will be a physically exhausting tactic but it's his best chance for success. Win lots of little battles in retreat and look good doing it. The last thing he wants is a war of pure physical strength.

I believe the ref will constantly be involved a la the Wider Bodyguard Council rules.
Fury is not so one-dimensional as to be a "outside fighter"! Just watch the Derek Chisora Fury fights.....
If Fury can get past the Wilder jab/long right he's in cruise control and will tenderize Wilder's mid section.
He's been doing it in training camp on film; keeping his chin tucked, putting his forehead on the bag, and swinging tight hooks.
