WRONG. You are entirely obsessed by Johnson and fight for his checkered reputation anytime you get the chance, often making a fool out of yourself disagree with known facts.

It makes you wonder how anyone ever survived more than a few rounds with Langford. This is giving me a new appreciation for Battling Jim Johnson!

Let’s face the fact that today’s heavyweights are so much bigger than previous generations that the division has become a different division altogether. It’s like comparing lightweights to lightheavyweights. And this new breed of superheavies are skilled and capable.

Don't even say Battling Jim Johnson in open public, if you do, we'll get 20 threads on the front page about the man.. the myth.. the legend... Battling Jim Johnson.

so you are STILL trying to persuade me that your argument is shared by you and your invisible army.

Have some faith in your own words and back them up yourself.

There's no chance he could have been successful vs SHWs.

Also, to people who are claiming he could have been dominant, if not the GOAT, below heavyweight, that is based on what? I'm a big fan of Sam, but he might have been another Chris Byrd kind of fighter, who was more impressive vs heavier, slower, less skilled opponents, than he was vs opponents of same weight or lighter.

He was a bit inconsistent, but surely wins over Gans, O'Brien, deserving one against Walcott, and getting the better in a ND against Ketchel suggest he could do well against smaller men.

Gans (or, rather, his manager) clearly underestimated Langford, he had had another fight in another city the previous night.

O'Brien bout took place at the end of the Phialdelphian's career, after long lay-off.

Walcott - look up reports for several previous Walcott bouts. Slugging match with Temple to a draw, couldn't get through YPJ's defense and was knocked out by a body blow, a draw with Ferguson (3-3-4 by rounds), only a draw with Black Bill.

Langford didn't do that well vs Blackburn, Holly and Temple.
