i cannot believe all this tony bellew being the underdog and winning all the time bull****. He has built his aura around 2 fights against a has been heavyweight. He got soundly beaten by Stevenson and never tried to avenge it . And yes he avenged cleverly who is not really a great fighter. And he beat a average world champion to win the title. But the British love a underdog story.

I believe Every belt he won was vacant English commonwealth world title so that tells you a lot about his chances as well.

Slight correction, he won a vacant WBC belt against a guy who never held one himself.

He got lucky and KO'd a glass jawed CW, who came within a hair of being brutally KTFO by featherfisted Mchunu, and a one legged cripple, former CW with a ****ed up Achilles tendon, which is perhaps the worst possible leg injury anyone could have in the sport of boxing, and who happened to be glass jawed as well.

    Oh Boy!!! What an aura!!!

As you say he has only fought one world class elite fighter at CW or HW, and he was beaten up and stopped in 6 lopsided rounds.

Off the back of beating a crippled David Haye twice, we are meant to believe that he is now “world class”.

His other best win Makabu where he won the CW WBC title, has disappeared back to Africa never to be seen of or heard of again.

In reality he is an easy W for Usyk prior to him moving up to HW.

The narrative has come from Sky Sports/Matchroom and their cult push the message.

His punch resistance had gone Haye's, too long out even if he was healthy, not taking shots regular in sparring/fighting. I never thought his chin was an issue when he was prime, he always seemed to ride the punches he was caught with as well, taking the sting out of the majority. With Bellew I can give him a pass considering the state of him. That performance from Bellew imo is gonna be shown for what it is when Usyk gets hold of him, hes gonna be dismantled, hit everywhere possible that's legal ! I hope Usyk is coming to make a statement, put Bellew in his place :)

not to mention Haye hadn't had a proper fight for like 4 and a half years, was told to retire as his shoulder was so messed up, and had only recently had his spine reconstructed

You just have to rewatch the Brudov fight and the seventh and eight rounds in particular to understand that Bellew has no chance against Usyk.

Watched that back two nights ago. I'm making a little comparison video for this fight, I'll upload it on Friday.

Oh, listen to what Jim Watt and Adam Smith say about 10-15 seconds before Brudov hurts Bellew. Its something along the lines of - this is the best I've ever seen him, then 10 seconds later he walks on to a punch and is all over the place, brilliant example of the 'commentators curse'!

Here ya go, timestamped and everything. The ref saved him by giving him time for a BS low blow, he was on his way out, big time.

He blew away two Gary Delaney type opponents in the first round before facing Bellew.. Younger David Haye couldn't to that to the real Gary Delaney.

How about the time he was meant to have leathered Deontay Wilder in sparing? So he could clean the HW champs clock in the Hayemaker gym , but couldn't beat Tony Bellew in two attempts?
Maybe Tony Balloo was just to good for David Haye.

There were 5 years between him "leathering" Wilder and the Haye/Bellew fights.
