Wilder vs Fury: Whoever wins, won’t get the credit

Seriously, Fury was suicidal, self medicating with drugs and declared medically unfit to fight.

Letting him fight would be criminal. It's not ducking when he couldn't possibly fight.

They will both get credit whomever wins.

 

What's disgraceful is that someone has a "mental breakdown" and gains 275 lbs while he is guaranteed a lifetime highest purse and the chance to box in a venue full of his home fans.

That's entitled behavior. That's laziness. That's lack of discipline. That's just everything a professional should NOT do. Fury had everything handed to him on a plate for the rematch and he said "F*** boxing, I hate the sport, I hate everyone involved in it". That was the real disgrace.

I think the manor in which either wins and how they both perform will decide it for me.

On paper, I expect Wilder to win, because Fury looked like crap in his two comeback fights and was fairly easy to hit, so if Wilder blows him out I give him little credit, other than good matchmaking. If however Fury is boxing well, making Wilder look poor, but he detonates that right, then he gets some credit.

If Fury wins, then no matter how he does it and how good or bad Wilder looks I give him enormous credit, because as per above, he's looked garbage in his last two, had ballooned up in weight, had a long layoff and a load of well documented issues outside the ring. Not sure how any reasonable fan would not give Fury credit really.

While I don't rate Wilder as a boxer and while I think his power is often overrated, he still has serious elite power whatever way you look at it. Do I think he hits harder or as hard as Wlad? No, but then not many do and you only need 70-80% of that to turn the lights out.

 

I think for Fury to come back after so long out, going up to the weight he did and not looking particularly great in his two warm ups fights to then beating Wilder - even if said fan doesn't have him in that high a regard - will be followed with plenty of credit. Just to get back into the world scene would be something

Your right but then people probably thought the same when he fought Wlad. Imagine Wlad in Cunningham's place.

Logically Wilder is the favourite, he's the more active, he's on the better run of form with the Ortiz win and Fury hasn't looked good since Wlad in 2015, some 3 years ago. But thing about Fury is he's always had a tendency to look beatable in fights against McDermott, Pajkic, Chisora 1 and Cunningham and then he throws in performances like the Johnson, Chisora 2, Wlad and looks like a completely different fighter. He could get KO'ed in 1 by Wilder or put on a clinic and win a clear UD making Wilder look like a novice, neither outcome would surprise me.

In fact both of them can look horrible and beatable at times, this fight for me is hard to pick clear winner because both are so up and down in regards to their performance levels.

 

Maybe Wilder would of got more credit for beating Dillian Whyte than Fury..

And Fury timed this fight to perfection, people have never rated wilder in terms of ability. People always expect him to lose against top opposition, Fury included, Fury thinks this fight will be stylistically in his favour but it's hard to fight against someone so unpredictable. Just look at Flyod fight with Marcos Maidana..
