Does anyone know anything about Laszczyk or what he is up to now? 24-0 and beat Tevin Farmer early in their careers. Doesn't seem to have fought for a year and cannot seem to find out what he is doing now.
it's the same old story. Eastern European fighters just don't get the same opportunities as American fighters - who get everything on a plate (despite not been as good as the EE fighters) Taras Shelestyuk and Egor Mekhonstev were elite amateurs. who haven't even fought for ages for example too. Denys Berinchyk fights about once a year. Matt Korobov can't even get a promoter or fights Almost every American fighter who is a top pro now , has losses to EE fighters in the ams- yet the guys who beat them have usually either never turned pro, or turned pro at a snails pace/ not been promoted/managed properly and have either retired of been very inactive.
Why don't they turn pro? Is it because they want to stay at home or not come to the US? Like it or not, if you want to make it in the sport of boxing, the US is the place to be. Damn near every famous fighter in the last 50 years came to the US at some point in their career. You are right! It is a shame that lesser talented fighters are getting the big breaks while the EE fighters are left in the cold. But don't blame the US fighters! The EE fighters need to get off their ass and come to America. The ones that do, get the fights. The Klits, Loma, Kovalev even Provadnikov had good success.
They get a steady wage from being amateurs. Some think it's too risky to turn pro, because they see what has happened to other fighters- that they might not get the fights and one loss in the pros and you could end up like Korobov. Depends who is managing/promoting you. Others don't want to leave their homeland/families - and look at Ukraine for example despite producing the best boxing talent -they hardly have any pro shows there. To make it in the pros as a Ukrainian you HAVE to to abroad basically. EE's have unbelievable talent, and you could easily say they are the dominant force in the pros ( usyk and Loma are the top 2 p4pers, GGG, Beterbiev, Bivol.. loads more are champs, loads coming up). But there should be even more of them! Vassily Levit was the best fighter at the Olympics 2016 imo yet he's still an amateur , Majidov is the best Super heavy of this generation and both him and Nistor beat Joshua - yet still they are amateurs. etc etc.
K2 done well with Usyk and GGG but haven't done a good job with Berinchyk and some others. Top Rank have been mixed too.. done well with Lomachenko, but it'll be interesting to see what happens with Gvozdyk/Kavaliauskas/Besputin as they are all on the verge of world title shors. Di Bella didn't even bother promoting Derevyanchenko's profile properly, and he hasn't done well with Golub - he hardly fights, and Khytrov was badly managed. Main Events is probably the best bet for EE's
So why doesn't a promoter like Kovalev', G's or Loma's promote these guys? There is a hidden talent pool. I know this seems like a simplified solution but, I can't see Promoters not making a profit promoting such talented fighters.
people usually only want to support compatriots. not just in America, but most everywhere. the NBA and NHL have both cut back on the numbers of foreigners in their leagues.
If these guys are the most talented fighters in the world there is no way a promoter won't get them and try to make money off of theses guys. Something ain't right! There is only one thing that motivates a man more than money and money helps you get it......... if you know what I mean.
