Tyson was superior, he was too durable and too good defensively even later on in the 90's he'd have beat any version of Morrison.

Morrison's story is a sad one and like many fighters from the 80's is one of missed opportunities due to poor choices outside of boxing. A lot of fighters from that era seemed to get derailed by drugs, women and the party life style. Guess it was just a reflection of the times, 80's was a crazy decade, tons of money, loads of drugs it was heady times with everyone chasing fame and fortune.

Morrison clearly had talent, strong looking guy, fast, explosive power and that left hook, wow. His chin was always a liability though, he'd have done well in this era if properly managed.

Tommy Morrison was your typical glass cannon HW.

    His punch resistance was appalling.

He packed decent power but was very open to counters and when clipped couldn’t recover.

He did as well as his limitations allowed him, which given his David Price level chin was remarkable. David Price never progressed as high up in the division as Tommy did.

I don't think Morrisons chin was that bad. If he'd actually taken Bentt seriously he would have beaten him. No disgrace being stopped by Mercer and Lewis.

Tyson was vicious on a totally different level.

He really was a one off. What was he? 5ft 11"?

Tyson was actually 5 foot 10, and he is on another level to Tommy, even Tommy himself would agree.

Lewis, by tiring Morris out with the jab and stopping him but, we all know at Heavyweight that anything can happen and there is always a chance that Lewis could get caught and KO'd.

That timeline makes sense if the Foreman fight hadn't happened.

Big George's comeback was carefully managed, and the expectation was that Morrison's chin would fail him, giving George a title vs a popular name without a ton of risk. Nobody actually expected Tommy to box a smart, disciplined fight for 12 rounds to win.

The problem was, instead of using that as a launching point to take his career more seriously, he celebrated and partied that away, leading directly to the Bentt whooping. He had actually bounced back and learned from Mercer, only to **** it away the instant he got on top.

I've made a simulation of what the fight might look like if the fight happened.

Let me know what you think.
