Lol....13 times these guys fought. Hope they got paid well. SOMEBODY wanted to see them fight, otherwise
they wouldn't have fought so many times.

Not really they didn't make much money , but a lot of guys wouldn't fight them unless they were wearing the cuffs.
Langford's best purse was against Iron Hague in London,$10,000. Langford made a mint on that fight because his manager Joe Woodman got John Davis to place a bet of $10,000 at even money that Langford would win ,Davis not ofey with UK currency mistakenly placed a bet of £10,000 equivalent to $50,000 at that time,Woodman and Langford were appalled since, if they lost they hadn't the money to cover their bet. They must have been shitting bricks when Hague dropped Langford in the 3rd round!

Johnson only lost to one guy that one of
Johnson had by far the better of it against those names.
Langford is the definite standout of the other 3 .
He beat Jeannette 7 fights to 2 with 2 further draws.
He beat McVey 7 fights to 2 with a further 6 draws.
Prime for prime I see no basis for thinking any of the trio beat Johnson. Johnson, out of shape and aging, against a primed and ready Jeannette or Langford, very dangerous fight for Jack.
The problem with Langford was his conditioning could never be relied upon.
Jeannette by contrast, was always in shape and preferred the longer distances.
Victor Breyer tried to match Jeannette v Champ Johnson over 20/25 rounds Johnson wasn't having any of that, he was aging and not in top shape ,and as Champ wouldn't go for a 20 rounder against the marathon man Jeannette ,he knew despite the fact that he had dropped Jeannette multiple times in their series, he would be unlikely to stop Jeannette, plus the purse on offer wasn't up to Johnson's stipulated price.
The "golden rule", "them that's got the gold makes the rules."

Yes, I think that your data do support those conclusions.

You need to take in account when Johnson fought Jeanette and Mcvey they were green while Johnson was in his prime. Didn't Jeanette just make is debut and fought Johnson a couple fights into his career. Also Langford was a lot smaller weight wise when he fought Johnson then when he was at his best like a 20lbs difference.

You need to take into account this is absolute bollocks!
Johnson fought Langford in1906, his estimated weight was 185lbs his best weight according to himself was 208lbs when he beat Jeffries in1910.
You need to take into account that Langford had more fights than Johnson when they met.
You need to take into account that in 5 fights against Jeannete, Johnson won3, lost won on a disputed foul and had 1 draw, in those fights he dropped Jeannette multiple times.
You need to take into account that the last time Johnson beat Jeannette Jeannette had 20 fights under his belt and that there was just a year between them in age.
By this time Jeannette had beaten Black Bill multiple times, stopped Langford ,and bested Jim Jeffords.
Johnson beat McVey easily 3 out of 3, at the time the 205lbs McVey was being talked of as a realistic challenger for Jeffries, who refused to fight him even though he was offered a hefty guarantee. In their last contest Johnson toyed with McVey before opening up and stopping him in the last round.
You need to take into account that by this time McVey had 27 recorded fights,[Pollack& Box Rec think there were more,] and had beaten Denver Ed Martin and Fred Russell 2 contenders.

While there is some truth in this, you can't make selective allowances in this type of comparison.

Johnson was also outside his prime for some of these fights.

Either everybody takes the rough with the smooth, or everybody is compared in their assumed prime.

It's also worth noting, nearly everyone has key wins outside of their opponent's prime, to one extent or aother.

If we assume the results would be the same prime for prime then by the same token wouldn't we have to assume that Joe Choynski beats any version of Jack Johnson?

Johnson was comparatively green when he fought 69fights Choynski. He was also according to Pollack a super middleweight.
Langford had 56 fights under his belt when he faced Johnson.
Clay Moyle the acknowledged expert on Langford , believes that prime for prime Johnson beats him.
Ever seen any expert say the same about Choynski v Johnson.Mr Negative?

So Johnson was green against Choynski but Jeanette doesn't get the same reasoning for his losses to Johnson. Bull****. It doesn't work one way either you take where they were in the careers of you just use the number like you did initially. Obvious everyone fighter has wins over people before and after their respective primes hence why I was saying it needs to be taken into account.

Langford had more fights than Johnson when they met so that's that one out of the way.
You said Jeannette had just made his debut and had a couple of fights. The last time Johnson beat him Jeannette had taken part in20 recorded
contests and was a month off of 27years old!
McVey had 26 recorded contests,[ its believed he had more that went under the radar,] when Johnson ko'd him and he was already a top contender for Jeffries title.
Choynski was a veteran of nearly 70 fights when he took on Johnson ,compared to him Johnson ,with 10 fights under his belt, was green!

This is Johnson below in1904 ,muscular but still slender and this is 3 years after the Choynski fight!
    This content is protected

If ,as Pollack believes Johnson was a super middle for the Choynski fight, he was 40lbs below his optimum weight
