Until yesterday? Hopkins won them but lost to Taylor, I think 3 titles was there for the rematch. Crawford instantly vacated. So is Usyk the first to defend the WBA/WBA/WBO/IBF?

In boxing yes. Among men, no.

To date the only modern era unified (four belt; WBO, IBF, WBC and WBA) champions have been Hopkins, Taylor, Crawford, Brækhus and Usyk.

Brækhus already beat Usyk to a four-belt defense, by four years. She has successfully made eight such defenses in a row.

But yes Usyk is the first man. Crawford might have beaten him to it had not he moved up in weight.

That's the one I was thinking of and you are correct. Hopkins did successfully defend the 4 titles

Hopkins v East an and Braekhus as mentioned.

Didn't actually do it but Calzaghe held all four belts with a period of a year without losing any but dropped the IBF prior to the Manfredo fight so wasn't far off being a fully unified champion. I'm sure others have done this but it's very difficult to fully unify due to politics.

It's astound there were only two people who had held them in 20-30 years of the four belts being around and that has doubled in the last 12 months.

Hopkins defended them against Eastman, then lost to Taylor and in their rematch only 3 were on the line preventing Taylor from being on this shortlist too.
So he’s not the first but it’s no less impressive.

Lennox Lewis beat the wbo champion akinwande but as the WBO was not recognized by WBC he had to relinquish the belt before stepping in the ring. But in actuallity Lewis beat the wbo champion and would have that belt, he gained the lineal from Briggs along with his WBC and added Holyfields WBA and IBF belts and the vacant IBO belt. Also Lewis won the IBC from Tommy Morrison which would be added together all at once if it were not for the alphabet politics of the day.
