Inoue ascended a weight class and prompty and easily dispatched of TWO WORLD CLASS FIGHTERS who were bigger and have never been stopped in under 1 round a piece, the latter of which was a scintillating KO secured w/ only 2 punches thrown.
    • 2 rounds total in 2018
    • Looked devastating and invincible
    • Brutalized McDonnell and smoked Payano

Ran it very close w/ Breidis who has subsequently looked like dung. Pitched a shut out against murderous puncher Gassiver (who may very well end up being ultra one dimensional). Was losing to Bellew before rallying for a highlight reel KO in enemy territory.
    • Won razor close decision against Breidis
    • Pitched amazing shut out against Gassiev
    • Struggled before turning it up and KOing Bellew

Usyk and it’s not even close. Unified a stacked division and put the icing on the cake with a KO of the year candidate against Haye’s father.

    A VERY FEEL 2018.

"Struggled" and then "turning it up"... if you aren't winning when you haven't "turned it up" yet then you're not struggling, you're just not trying as hard as you can yet. You don't start a marathon with a sprint, unless you know the only chance you have of winning is by knocking out your opponent before the finish line ;)

But you have to consider the following:
    • Inoue went up in weight
    • Inoue completely and utterly destroyed TWO WORLD CLASS FIGHTERS in under one round a piece
    • Usyk scraped by Breidis, who hasn't looked the same in recent bouts
    • Usyk was getting countered and looked lost at times against Bellew
There's no question that Inoue was more dominant against maybe slightly inferior opposition. Still. 2 rounds.

It's not even close at all, Mcdonnel is average, drained to death with glass chin, Payano is nothing special either, I mean Inoue shouldn't be in discussion really. He is incredible, Inoue but he shouldn't be in the discussion for FOTY
Usyk is FOTY 2018 and it's not even close.

It is what it is... Usyk wasn't throwing much and when he did, Bellew made him pay for it. Then Usyk turned it up.

Usyk had the better year than Inoue, clearly.

It's nonsense to say that Inoue shouldn't even be in discussion.

Anywho, these are the 2 clear finalists for FOTY.

Usyk “scrapped by” Briedis according to a couple of deluded judges. Lol In reality he comfortably beat Briedis by UD in that fight.

Looked lost at times against Bellew? Not as lost as Tony looked those last three rounds and after getting up from almost being cracked out of the ring. :)

And “World Class” fighters Inoue beat? Usyk has beat nothing but world class boxers for the past several years. He schooled elite cruiser weights all year long and just sent one into retirement brutally.

    Usyk is FOTY

Tomato, I am fairly new the forum, and the reason I joined is that I am a huge fan of Inoue. That being said, stop hugging his nuts so hard. What Inoue did is amazing, but Usyk is definitely the FOTY. But if we are talking about KO of the year, I do favor Inoue's 1st round KO of Payano over Usyk's KO over Bellew.

Usyk could have turned it up at any time if he needed to, it was measured. Bellew WAS boxing well (but also fighting at 100%) so full credit for doing as well as he did - but struggling is not the right word for describing what Usyk was doing when Bellew was having success. Usyk executed his fight plan perfectly, I wouldn't call it an easy night for him but there were no surprises and it was a dominant win.
