It’s difficult because smaller guys generally have the ability to move up in weight and face more quality names. Their is no question Mayweather was an expert matchmaker and wielded the A side hammer better than anyone in history from weight to testings etc.
Usyk has just taken apart 4 prime fighters all in their backyard but he’ll never get names like De La Hoya or Pacquaio on his resume. To a purist he has everything but the body of work yet. If he shocked the world and beat AJ he will have a true ATG Claim.

Mayweather was a MANUFACTURED champion, Yrs he had fantastic God Given boxing talents. Talent enough to
mayve really earn a ATG title BUT
He was selected as the Vegas cash cow by the NSAC & Vegas boxing & he was literally given carte blanche to do as he wished he knew he would never be allowed to lose. The same benefits have today been given to Canelo.

No problem with you feeling that way but I happen to disagree.

Floyd also lost to Castillo in the first fight and arguably lost to Chino. Manufactured unbeaten record is right.

You have the same rights to your opinion as I do. I respect yours too
What I would dearly love id to be able to part of a panel on National TV Live asking Bennett the NSAC & Vegas boxing officials to explain their actions ,or none actiion, regarding May/Pac IV gate & other blatant bias shown tp boxers like Floyd & Canelo
That qould be interesting to say the least

Two points though. Im no flIVd fan but to be fair Moseley did duck flIVd and he did fight a prime Corales. Other than that you were spot on in your comment. He also CLEARLY ducked Margarito, Paul Williams and Sergio. Fought a drained Canelo who was also as green as virgin on prom night.

Bull**** thread... Mayweather won titles in 5 divisions .. Usyk is a very good fighter, but what he does in his vie at the HW division will see how he stacks up against the ATG'S .

Very unrespectful post Todd. These prime fighters you're talking about wouldn't even match up against most of the past prime fighters Floyd beat throughout his career. Your post shows you see colors rather than an objective opinion on boxing.. learn it and learn it fast .

Usyk fights clean fights in opponents backyards wins legitimately
Floyd needed corruption to keep his bogus 0 & NEVER fought outside Vegas in tears. As long as he was standing at the final bell he knew go;s wiin

Usyk would need to beat both Joshua and Wilder and also defend the undisputed title for several years for me to even entertain comparing him to Floyd.

He will have to wait until they are old, or make them come down in weight to be compared to floyd, then defend his title Against carefully hand picked opponents for several years.

Mosley had the so called tooth ache when Floyd wanted the fight years ago. As for Hoya, Floyd wanted a guarantee from Bob that he will get the Hoya fight if he takes the Margoritto fight. Do you even realize how easily the fight was made easily after he left top rank. Everyone wanted golden boy back then, he brought in a huge crowd including a massive female fan base like never before.

It's clear as day you didn't follow boxing back then if you really think anyone would not jump at the chance of getting in the ring with De La Hoya. Floyd created this crappy money persona to become a superstar for Christ sake. A persona which brought in just as many boxing fans that wanted to see him lose, as ones that wanted to see him win. You think he wasn't begging Bob for the fight, he knew De La Hoya was his golden ticket, he was a medium risk and the highest reward you could get for years. Which is what Money Mayweather was all about.

As for Floyd and Pac, year after year both sides made that fight difficult. As did the TV networks, there's even an interview with Kostya Tszyu where he says he really wants to fight Gatti, but the networks makes it a difficult fight to make. It took years before showtime and HBO did a fight together.

Lastly you have the PR war between Money Team and Top Rank. Take a look at the way it was orchestrated, it got to a point where they were practically taking turns in getting the upper hand in the PR war. They took all us fans for a ride, what really happened behind the scenes we will never know, but it wasn't just about one fighter waiting for the other to get old. Both teams played a part in preventing the fight, as well as constantly keeping it on people's minds. There are fighters you can legitimately say Floyd avoided or waited till they were older. Mosley and De La Hoya are terrible examples if you want to prove that point.
