Are you not mature enough to talk about who is better P4P Usyk or Canelo? Grow up and try again with a real response.
LOL Usyk has MUCH better footwork than Canelo ever dreamed of. MUCH better. Watch his fights against Glowacki and Gassiev where he wasn't stalking his opponents. It was thing of beauty, Canelo's footwork is nonexistant in comparison
OK I'll start : Usyk is rangier than Canelo and thus is more effective at controlling distance with the jab. Canelo is a better counter puncher and is better at using his upper body to make opponents miss than Usyk is. Usyk is better at setting up the straight with the jab than Canelo is. Canelo is able to utilize a more varied attack (body shots, hooks uppers) than Usyk is.
Did you watch the first GGG fight? Usyk does have decent footwork from what I've seen but has he showcased the ability to set traps for opponents and make people miss with his feet? Vs Bellew Usyk looked to me to be more of a stalker. Bellew's footwork seemed to be superior to Usyk in comparison. Bellew was constantly able to go back to the ropes and lure Usyk in. Has Usyk ever shown the ability to move aroung the ring effortlessly on the balls of his feet like Canelo showcased in the first GGG fight?
If Lara and Trout are high level operators then Briedis, Gassiev Bellew and Glowacki are high level operators too that are on par if not better.
@catchwtboxing I blame you for this. You said an argument could be made for Canelo being FOTY instead of Usyk and now we have this thread.
He fought the best in their own backyard, becoming undisputed in what, 15 fights. Canelo on the other hand, while having a brilliant career, has recently been tainted, both with dodgy wins (as the house fighter) as well as being hit with PED use. There’s too many fresh question marks over Canelo at the moment.
I'll give you a serious response assuming you are wanting one. For me the Usyk vs Canelo p4p debate is about resume (Canelo) vs eye test (Usyk). As I'm a 95% eye test guy I have Usyk ahead but: a) on resume Canelo is going to be ahead (although to be fair his wins are far more controversial than Usyk's), at the very least until Usyk beats someone like Joshua/Wilder winner. So if your p4p list is based more on resume I understand you having Canelo ahead. b) I try to be unbiased but I am a much bigger fan of Usyk than Canelo. However, in fairness you (@shadow111) have a strongly opposite preference. Here's my first point of disagreement, I don't favour fighters for being smaller / more dynamic / fluid. The whole idea of p4p is to compare different weight classes evenly, not favour the lower divisions. Because if you think about it, the top minimumweights are way more fluid and faster than Canelo, Loma, Crawford, Usyk etc. Note also that most organizations agree with me here, as evidenced by guys like Wilder or Joshua creeping into the top 10/15 p4p. So the comparison is Usyk vs average cruiser, Canelo vs average MW, etc. You clearly need to watch Usyk more, as you admit. He's not at all a "very basic stalker", that's like calling Crawford a "semi-decent boxer". I suspect you are basing that of the first few rounds where he just stalks and figures out his opponent without doing a great deal. Once he gets going it's a completely different story. Let me explain: Let me break it down: Footwork; is a huge Usyk plus over Canelo. At the end of the day Canelo has decent footwork for a MW, but other MWs have comparable footwork. Usyk's footwork is by far the best in the division, and it's not even close. Tell me, what cruiser / heavyweight has that kind of footwork? Stamina; this is a well-known Canelo weakness and by contrast Usyk has insane stamina, arguably p4p the best in the game. Even going to the championship rounds he still moves excellent without having had to take any breaks, and for a big guy this is exceedingly rare. Critics of Usyk usually say that this is all that makes him good. Variety; Have you seen Usyk's angles? Canelo has angles too but I never saw a cruiser do some of the angle tricks that Usyk can pull off. What Canelo has is a bit more power p4p and he's a better counterpuncher at close to mid range, but to be honest I'd be very confident that Usyk would end up outboxing blown-up, slower versions of Canelo and GGG at cruiser. Your problem is that: a) you really need to see more Usyk fights. See for example him vs anyone (Joe Joyce?) in the WSB, and of course all his major pro fights. b) you are expecting Usyk to show speed, fluidity, of a MW when you should be comparing him to what is normal for a cruiser.
