That would be a great fight but I suspect he will be eased into the division first against a B-level opponent.

I would pick haye from Valuev or Wlad fights to KO AJ. Povetkin was landing and Haye had power , more power than povetkin.

    Usyk 6'3", 78" Reach

    Whyte 6'4", 78" Reach

    Ortiz 6'4", 78" Reach

    Povetkin 6'2", 75 Reach

    Miller 6'4", 78" Reach

    Parker 6'4", 75" Reach

    Kownacki 6'3", 76" Reach

    Chisora 6'2", 74" Reach

    Fury 6'9", 85" Reach

    Joshua 6'6", 82" Reach

    Wilder 6'7", 83" Reach

I know it's not all about height and reach but Usyk isn't going to be a dwarf at heavyweight.

If Usyk fills in to Heavyweight well and retains his speed, movement and stamina I don't think he will be out of place whatsoever.

Obviously the bottom three pose different questions but they do for all those other fighters too.

Michael Spinks went from LIGHTHEAVYWEIGHT to HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION. Usyk is bigger than Spinks was; if Spinks can do it, so can Usyk. And no, Fury, Wilder, AJ etc ain't no Larry Holmes

    Y'all musta forgot.

And yet we have threads saying things like 'Usyk dies at heavyweight and you're a joke if you think otherwise'

A lot of bull**** talk but there’s like 50 years of MODERN BOXING history to sample from yet nobody mentions anything but HWs from the 30s or before

The more appropriate question is, why do people think Usyk can't jump to heavyweight and be a top heavyweight, when inferior heavyweights (that are roughly his own size functionally but fatter) like Joseph Parker, Alexander Povetkin, Dillian Whyte and Luis Ortiz can be top heavyweights today? I don't understand the reasoning!

You have a relatively limited Povetkin who gave Joshua his second toughest fight of his career, at age 39 when his durability and stamina were totally shot and when he was at his absolute worst.

And then you have a total novice and an even more limited Joseph Parker, who was competitive every round against Joshua, whilst showing he has the durability to take everything Joshua threw at him for 12 rounds without once seeing the canvas.

But somehow we are to believe that a much superior Usyk, compared to any of those inferior boxers who gave Joshua his toughest fights, is going to be totally helpless and out of his element, even though he is the same size as those inferior boxers?

    I don't get the reasoning!

Historically, nobody ever became the cruiser weight champion in 15 fights. Nor did they ever hold all 4 belts at the same time at cruiser weight. But somehow Usyk became the first person to ever achieve this.

So why is it so far fetched for anybody to believe that Usyk could also do things at heavyweight, nobody else has ever done before? Usyk is already breaking records and making history. Why should it be a surprise to see him break even more records?

I doubt Usyk is able to beat big 250+ lbs ordinary guys like Matteo Modugno of Junior Fa, let alone Joe Joyce or Dillian Whyte, only due to their size. If they were CWs, Usyk would manhandle them easily, but they are SO big.
The weight divisions are created for a reason!

Cunningham did okay past prime going up. Got some good wins. Gave fury one of his hardest fights.
Byrd did very well for his size.
Hunter just battered bakole who was supposed to be a talent.
Haye did well, beating the giant value, koing teak tough delboy.

That's just recently. Uysk is better then em all!

    The "jump" to heavyweight?

Since they moved the cruiserweight limit from 190 to 200, every cruiserweight fight you've ever seen has featured guys who weigh well over 200 pounds when they enter the ring.

Deontay Wilder weighed 214 when he knocked out Luis Ortiz this year.

Usyk likely weighed at least that much when he fought Bellew (who likely weighed at least that much, too) on Saturday.

We'll see about Usyk, but Wilder ain't no super HW either, and he's the biggest puncher in the entire division. Sanders upset Wlad at 225 with 15 lbs body fat on him. Klitschkos actually put weight on each camp to go beyond 230. AJ without that freakish upper body muscles is like 225.

Same ballpark mate, just more fat and muscle flapped about. SHWs are a myth. Haye needed zero of that to dominate and almost stop Sir Lord Commander Sugar Nikolai The Righteous Valuev, old-arse small-arse Ruiz, Holyfield clearly beat him. That's the closest you'll ever get to superhuman size, and Niko was compromised by his own mass.

If he was a bigger puncher maybe, and if fights were 15 rounds he could drag them into deep water
