Why is he 100% sure that Wilder is going to win against Fury? What if Fury wins? Are they going to ignore him? My prediction is wide UD by Fury and usually I call it well. I’m not a Wilder hater, I just think that Fury is easily outboxing him.
Obviously he doesn't know who will win, he's not a clairvoyant but it's the result he likely wants to happen. Joshua/Wilder will help him in regards to his venture with DAZN in the US. It's the fight that is likely more marketable world wide and the fight he's already spent a lot of man hours working on. Also if Fury loses, Hearn get's to stick it to Warren again which he seems to love to do.
1. AJ v Wilder is a bigger fight worldwide. Its a bigger fight for DAZN and its a fight they have been trying to make long before Fury came back. 2. Fury wins and Wilder has a rematch so AJ v Fury isnt really an option after anyway. 3. He believes Wilder wins. 4. AJ wants the Wilder fight.
Eddie Hearn may just be trying to get up franks nose but whilst I know a lot of people are high on the photos and video from the media days, there's clearly a lot of scepticism within the boxing world about Furys actual fitness for this fight. Bellew was desperate to get this Fury in the ring, not only would he have had his parting PPV pension top up but it's clear he thought he could win, as long as Fury didn't have another couple of warm up fights. I think Hearn is being honest when he says that wilder is going to spark fury out.
Fury winning would be a massive shock, if that happens then plan change but its such an outside chance its barely worth considering now.
Wilder holds the belt..... If he said "The winner of Wilder v Fury" idiots would then start with 'Oh, so you want to fight Fury instead'.
Hearn Will be in for a rude awakening when fury embarrasses wilder and pulls the plug on the potential big money Joshua wilder showdown they have been speculating for so long Fury / Joshua we’ll be where the money and the demand is; two British undefeated title holders ....complete unification, first time since Lennox Wilder Is about to be beaten and fall by the wayside
Agree the likelihood of Fury pulling out is very high. If he doesnt feel ready or he over trains and gets injured. Then given the lack of activity & preparation from Fury, its very likely he gets sparked. So 90% doesnt happen or Wilder sparks him is about right.
Well if Fury wins, then AJ can still fight Wilder for similar public interest and get a bigger share of the split. Or alternatively fight two lesser names with less risk for 20m each fight. Whatever the outcome of this fight, I doubt Hearn or AJ are really that bothered. If Fury decides to fight AJ, which I really don't think he will but if he does then that's a bigger fight than the Wilder fight anyway.
I reckon you should take it at face value. He seems to be backing Wilder for the same reason most seem to be backing Wilder; Fury probably isn’t ready. He proved to be quite easily hittable in his last fight, so if Wilder is aggressive perhaps he expects Wilder to connect. Wilder’s got a ridiculously fast straight right.
Because Eddie Hearn, just like most professionals in the sport who have been asked and just like most the sane people on here, knows Fury is very likely not ready yet. Just like everybody else he realises Fury really could do with a couple more tune up fights to get those reactions and sharpness back. Also he needs Wilder to win for there to be any chance of Joshua v Wilder in April. Fury can lose all the weight, Fury can look good on the pads in his under crackers but we all saw his 2 comeback fights against absolute nobodies and he won with ease but didnt look sharp and didnt look like he had his reactions back and those are the 2 things he needs as much as anything against a fast fighter like Deontay. Fat drugged up Fury can outbox Wilder with 1 hand whilst holding a big burger in his other hand but without the sharpness and reactions he is going to get tagged.
He Wilder won’t be fighting on DAZN. I don’t see him helping Hearn in any way, shape or form. He and Finkle will demand the fight to be on Showtime PPV.
