No they don't. Canelo v GGG sold tickets. Spence v Garcia is going to be in a stadium. Do you think they chose that venue and will be happy if they sell 10k tickets? Thurman v Garcia did 16k in New York. The idea fans don't attend boxing events in the US is BS. Banking on PPV Buys when a fight is struggling to sell tickets is crazy. All that tells me is the PPV is going to struggle as there isn't much interest.
Everyone who likes boxing is interested. You're so interested, you're counting ticket sales weeks before the show. It'll do fine.
In 1979 in the first ever title fight for both prospects Leonard or Hagler, niether being an established heavyweight champion. Could you reach for an any more obscure example? . Fact of the matter is, if Wilder vs Fury can do 150k PPV buys, it will be considered a success for both these guys.
We'll see. Being completely serious for a moment, I know a number of guys in their 20s who order every MMA fight who are rabid Conor McGregor fans. (So much so they all just bought whatever liquor he just launched.) And they are all talking about the fight (to my surprise) because they saw Wilder-Ortiz (and like Wilder's crazy explosive power) and they have just heard about Tyson Fury and are watching Fury's fights and interviews on Youtube. And he's a lot like McGregor to them. I think Wilder vs Fury is going to appeal more to the MMA crowd than fights like Ward vs Kovalev did. Like I said, I think it'll do fine on PPV. But we'll see.
You would have thought Fury and Co would have learnt from the second Klitschko fight that was pulled where they put the prices up and barely sold any tickets in the UK.
