Don't know the numbers but from what i can see, they have a ton of tickets available.
And they just now opened up some of the cheaper sections.

 

Thanks for that. Hearn said they haven't opened the top tier but from this link it appears they have, or at least partially. Hard to tell how many have been sold. Could be 8k, certainly not sold out. We'll see on fight night I guess.

Forgive me if i don't rely on the hyperbole of a rival promoter for my facts though.... lol

 

I never really paid attention to ticket sales.
But then i found out that HBO was hemorrhaging money showcasing guys like Berto, while no tickets were sold.
Those "events" would literally just give away the majority of tickets.

And after hearing how expensive Wilder-Fury tickets were, I just had to pay attention.

When Eddie talked about the tickets, they had not yet opened the upper sections. And they have sold a few tickets since.

Btw, Miller-Dinu has sold maybe 1/3 of the available tickets

 

This whole thing has been about making the point that they can bring in just as much money as Anthony Joshua and they dont need to fill out a 90'000 seated stadium to do it so bla bla bla Hearn you and AJ aint doing nothing special, nothing we cant do over here in Merrikka. A battle they were never guna win.

But they have just forced everything far too much to compete and seem to be in the process of making a massive mess of it. The undercards gone to ****, the tickets seem to be going to **** and who who knows about the PPV,s but if it turns out that tickets and undercards has gone to **** id hedge my bets on the PPV not going so great either. But because they have been so loud and said so many ludicrous things like "THIS SELLS 2.5 Million PPV,s" and "ITS SOLD A MILLION DOLLARS WORTH IN A DAY" nonsense its just guna end up with them being ridiculed.

What would of been easier and better is if they had just accepted that Joshua is the man in the division as far as money is concerned. By all means make the Tyson Fury fight, other than the fact Fury should be given more time to get back up to speed there is nothing wrong with this at all, its a great fight. It seems a good fight to introduce Wilder to the PPV market but they have just gone crazy with the pricing which risks the whole thing bombing and offered up an awful undercard which wont help at all. They should of just forget trying to compete with Hearn and AJ and just made it all normal, price it fairly, take the time to find the money to pay for some good undercard fights and we have ourselves a decent night.

 

That looks bad, might not have even sold half the tickets with 2 weeks to go. Floor seats not sold, plenty available in lower tier, it's going to look bad on TV unless they give away thousands of tickets.

Plus how many of those showing as sold are actually touts trying to resell them.

I guess Hearn has a figure in his head that he is prepared to pay Wilder - fair enough - and is turning up the heat by talking ticket sales, or lack of. But in the end, if Wilder lays out Fury in a crumpled pile of skin and bones that will mean more in terms of his future value than the number of people there to witness it....

 

The tickets are too expensive in a city where neither fighter has a relationship. Boxing is America tends to be local, not national, so this fight made the most sense at Barclays. Or the UK, which seems to support the sport on a more national basis.

 

Thats quite a naive viewpoint. Of course the number of people watching will have a direct impact on Wilders future negotiating power. Wilder beating Fury will improve his leverage, but all he brings to the table will be a good name on his resume. If the numbers are not good he's in the same position he is now.

 

Most likely scenario IMO. Recently Fury has been saying he wants to make a fight out of it, standing toe to toe and trading shots in the center of the ring but as I saw someone else comment in another thread: ''what Fury says and what Fury does are two different things." I predict that Fury is going to play it safe, staying on the outside and using his height and reach advantage to maximal effect, meaning that unless Fury loses focus and gives Wilder the opportunity to land one of his haymakers, we're probably going to have a mostly uneventful 12 rounds which will disappoint casual fans. Meanwhile, others will say Fury put on a boxing clinic.

 

This are two separate issues though: a sporting question, and a financial question.

If Wilder destroys Fury then he adds more weight to the sporting event argument; the fight from a competitive context arguably couldn't get any bigger. But with boxing the financial situation always has to be considered and poor sales will cost him. He simply cannot say that because both are champions that he is entitled to more money than he was previously offered. It's basic business.

If he keeps pricing himself out then Joshua will fight at Wembley against Usyk or someone of that ilk and earn a lot once again. Also, Joshua is young enough to not need to fight Wilder. I don't accept the notion that if he never fights him it's a black mark on his career. Lewis and Tyson never fought Bowe for example.

 

Fighters always come out with stuff like that. They'd be fools not to.

The fool would be the person believing it. Fury had his most successful night fighting like he did against Klitschko. He'd be crazy to change it.
