Usyk fits the bill I reckon. Recently in the UK and discussions will have inevitably happened between his team and Hearn in the last week after the Bellew fight. Lots give him a chance of winning it and maybe they have pushed for this given it largely represents a no-lose situation for Usyk and the assumed logical route, (namely someone like Pulev then someone like Whyte) isn't exactly a guaranteed path of success. I think Klitschko would possibly come back for a Fury rematch; he seems at peace with the Joshua loss but Fury beating him seems to stick in his throat a little. Ward is far too small and nobody else really fits the bill of being a wildcard. Pulev for example was about a week away from actually fighting him.
Hoping and praying it's Wlad, as unlikely as it seems now. The former champ appears to be in tremendous shape and is still training as far as I know. No idea who else it could be but Usyk seems like a legitimate possibility in my mind, although I would have thought he'd want a couple of wins at HW under his belt first before facing AJ.
I suspect it's Inoue but Ward has been juicing like crazy since he announced his fake retirement so it could be him.
Did you watch the contender? Ffs he was barely bigger than those blown up Jr middleweights. AJ would eat Ward like a snack
I'm not watching anything if that **** is in it. But I do know that he weighs 200lbs of solid muscle now. And it's the ''right kind of muscle'' which is odd given the hoopla his trainer and him kicked up about him not being a natural LHW.
It would be one of the few fights where I’d find myself marking out like a fanboy for AJ. After that past season of disingenuous ass Andre Ward on The Contender, there’s nothing in the world I’d want more than to see him KTFO
Joshua took 260lb Whyte's best body punches, while gassed and hurt, but 210lb Ward is gonna smoke him? Ward may be more skilled than the pair of them put together but if you really think he rips to the body anywhere near as hard as Whyte then you may need to take a break from the forum because your Joshua hate is clearly causing mild delirium.
Usyk wouldn't make sense, either for him moving straight up to HW with an AJ fight, or for the amount of money the fight could deliver if it was built over a year. I think we can count that out. Ward makes sense, as does Wlad, who posted footage of himself training recently in a suspiciously random way. I lean towards Ward as he gets more US interest which has to be a long term goal for Hearn/AJ. Also remember how Bellew kept referencing him for his farewell fight. Clearly Matchroom and Ward are in contact and such a fight is viable. I think this depends on the WBO. If they make Whyte mandatory then it makes sense to do that fight. If not? Why waste a voluntary slot on a high risk fight which would damage one of your best assets when you can keep them apart for a rainy day.
