Agreed, if that figure is correct, it's not a good look. The whole promotion from the delay in announcing the fight to the late news on undercard has been a bit of a joke. The prices are on the whole ridiculous too. That said, Hearn does have an axe to grind, even if his figures are correct. The silence from the Wilder/Fury side suggest he's not far off the money though...
I agree with you, the promotion has been a bit of a shambles but I've always said and most posters on here have said Wilder has been promoted badly and that's not a dig at Wilder, it's a dig at the people around him. Yeah that's another issue, the ticket prices, they are expensive and I don't think it's helped them with the very slow announcement of the undercard. Another problem may be ticket sites, we might not get an accurate number of backsides on seats anyway because these companies buy in bulk and sell on, they could be holding hundreds of tickets themselves so the arena show them as "sold" but that means those seats might not be filled if they don't sell them on. After all that has been said and the accusations in the media Hearn is going to poke them, at this moment in time Hearn is in a position of power with DAZN, he is doing very well for himself, his fighters and his reputation is growing. Hearn is selling out arena after arena so he is going to point a finger and try to expose any failure because it backs up his argument that Joshua is the main man in terms of business at Heavyweight and nobody else is remotely close. It could save him millions in negotiations, he is just turning the screw a little and cranking up the pressure on them to succeed.
Wilder doesn`t have an exciting personality or an exciting style, even though he KO`d Ortiz, before he could do that he hardly looked like Mike Tyson and was hurt, also there was booing during one round because of the lack of action, Wilder even though being a puncher is too much of a ches player before landing his punch, turning people off with loads of posing, it is effective, but it`s not crowd pleasing like AJ vs Wlad was, that was a star making fight, if AJ was American that fight would have made him a star thee and he`s more charming than Wilder outside the ring starring in adverts and stuff, American advertisers wouldn`t want a boxer with Wilder`s looks starring in their adds, like li said, 'the world champ should be pretty like me' and AJ is a lot prettier than Wilder.
Whyte is a more exciting fighter than Wilder, the Parker vs Whyte fight wwas far more action packed than Fury v Wlad or Wilder vs Ortiz despite how Wilder ended that fight.
I think his biggest money fight by far after a win over Wilder will be AJ that will make huge viewing figures, but I feel in second place would be a fight vs Usyk who did himself no harm destroying Bellew at cruiser, I feel it would be a great fight too.
That's like hoping a Hollywood movie eventually becomes a blockbuster when it failed miserably on the opening weekend. It happens, but it is very very rare.
Great, so you now accept the win is paramount? In fact, by such a degree the most important factor in respect of future value, you now label it as 'obvious'. So why the discussion for half a day? lol Been great doing business with you. Anytime...
Depends on how he loses but if he's well beaten it becomes very hard to resurrect. Joshua Fury becomes the fight and there would probably be more interest in Joshua Usyk than Joshua against a guy Fury beat easily. Tyson has a ready made (and not necessarily unbelievable) excuse in that he was out for so long and had so little meaningful opposition before taking the fight. If Wilder loses it could be game over for his career.
He'll struggle I think unless he signs with Hearn or at least agrees to work with Hearn. He could still make good money after a loss fighting Whyte, Chisora, Parker, Povetkin etc. But if he stays true to Haymon he'll just like Ortiz and Martin will get lined up against nobody after nobody until he finally gets given a decent fighter eventually where he has to win or get assigned to the bottom of the Haymom stable.
If Wilder loses to Fury it would probably be beneficial to his career. He'll fight the rematch in the UK and make triple the payday. The problem really is if he wins. He's never going to get his ridiculous demands from Joshua/Hearn and all the other worlds best fighters are on or aligned with DAZN/Matchroom. He could fight Breazeale, H.Fury or Kownacki, but it won't be PPV/big money spinners. Problem is for Wilder, Fury is about as good as it gets without working with Hearn/Matchroom in someway.
