On another thread somebody was saying that they will be missing both Whyte-Chisora and Frampton-Warrington next month cos he had plans with the Mrs. and gave me the idea for this thread. Who's all had to miss a big fight or just a fight they were dying to see because they had something else on e.g social event, work or whatever? A recent one of mine was missing Usyk-Gassiev in the WBSS final. I was on holiday and couldn't find anywhere that was open late enough to show it and I wasn't up for faffing about trying to get it on a stream and taking my tablet and hoping for the best with the Greek Wi-Fi. So had to miss it, but didn't want to just read about the fight the next day, I wanted to watch it without knowing anything about it. So stayed off all boxing content online for a few days (Saturday-Thursday) and just waited til I got home to watch it. I was in so much suspense it will probably be the only time I've been on holiday and was quite happy to be going home when the time came!
Calzaghe Kessler for similar reasons, I was on my holidays somewhere... I managed to go 3-4 days without hearing the result because I wanted to watch it when I got home but someone spoiled it. Frampton v Quigg is another, I was on the Liverpool boat that night. On hindsight I didn't miss much but i was excited before the fight.
Tyson v Douglas. I was 14 years old at the time and about 5 minutes before the ringwalk there was a power cut and I ended up sitting in the dark
I’d been on the beer all day and went for a slash at the end of the 8th round in froch groves 1. Missed the ‘knock out.’ Bit gutted but was on the verge of pi**ing myself
More than half the USA based fights of recent years. Just can't manage them so early/late in the morning any more.
Going to brave it for Fury Wilder? I'll either deprive myself of sleep and/or set the alarm for that one.
Missed both GGG/Canelo fights. Both times ended up completely off my tits and forgetting all about it
