That wasn't a world title shot. That was a domestic level fight for a domestic 'title'. Apples and oranges.
Im fairly sure thats because his handlers know just how fragile the ice they are trying to skate, is. I will be surprised if Miller actually fights a top 5 guy before he gets his AJ showdown. I dont know how, but I expect Hearn will maneuver him into the AJ or Whyte fights without an actual name on Millers resume. Because he knows that putting Miller against an actual legitimate top 7 guy probably means he doesn't get to feed Miller to AJ, Usyk or Whyte.
Ya now way Miller is getting Dillan Whyte before Whyte can get that AJ rematch. Money talks, this isnt about the best fighting the best anymore I dont think Miller will get the Wilder/ Fury winner either. A more realistic fight for Miller would be Ortiz, and a good test too
We'll know after December 1st. If Fury schools Wilder, Wilder could take the Joshua fight in April to ensure he gets 2 paydays with a guaranteed rematch against Fury already in the bank. In which case Miller vs Whyte would be possible. My thinking is Hearn keeps Miller well away from his moneymaker Whyte though and keeps trying to push him down the stay active / clean up the WBA route. Maybe feed him Chisora or Price in the UK in April on Joshua undercard to keep him happy.
I like Miller a lot of good attributes but I’m frustrated with the path he’s taking while talking **** and down playing genuine top 5 guys... He’s on record as saying he wants his next fights to be... Charr, Fres and/or Trevor Bryant... I understand he wants the regular belt but these would be seen as an inconvenience to most top fighters not fights your actively seeking out. He’s like the Heavyweight Anthony Yarde to me at this point. The other day he was actually saying his resume is beyond Whytes... and he kept a straight face!!
We need to see Ortiz vs Joyce. Kauffman and Hanks are terrible opponents, especially when they are sharing the same card, promoter etc..
And Miller has been facing opponents who are just as bad or only just better. Joyce has actively called out Miller who claimed it was a step back only to fight a shot Adamek and now Dinu who flatlined as a pro best part of 4 years ago.
Always rated Miller. No surprise to see him go on a good winning run. But he's too fat at his current weight. At least come down under 300lbs. The other thing I've always thought about Miller is that he has a big upset (or two) in him against the very top guys. He won't be springing it if he stays at that weight though. I'm not asking for him to lose massive amounts of weight b/c that's obviously not happening. Just get down under 300lbs & keep it there.
Miller is headlining cards vs world title challengers, former world champions and ranked contenders for titles, Joyce and Ortiz are fighting penguins on Wilders undercards like a pair of lukewarm good boys instead of fighting each other.
You can call them what you want but it is still **** poor opposition and do you really believe Duahaupas, Washington or Wach are really or was really anything other than stepping stone defences? As for Adamek he was finished 6 years ago. Joyce is better than all the fighters you just mentioned and I wholly believe he'd do a better job on them than what Miller did. However you cannot deny that Miller has actively turned down Joyce. As for headlining cards, the card last night was crap.
