I guess he could be made out to be this redemptive character who has gone through some hardships to again rise to the top of heavyweight boxing and that could put bums on seats as they say. But I think it will really come down to how good the first fight is.

If Wilder/Fury 1 sees Fury winning a one sided snoozefest then a rematch in the UK is going to be a hard sell. If it's an action packed affair I could see it doing very well. But I don't see that as likely.

Fury isn`t that marketable either, I waasn`t making a nationalistic point I was merely pointing out why Whyte is more marketable than Wilder, I don`t actually think Whyte can beat Wilder, I don`t even know if AJ can beat Wilder, I just know that his fight wit Wladwas far more exciting than any of Wilder`s fights, he doesn`t throw a lot of punches, he does a lot of scouting, then adjusts after finding a weakness, not everyone`s cup of tea.

I think one thing people from America might not understand with regards to Fury's domestic popularity is how Travellers are viewed in Britain.

Rightly or wrongly a lot of people openly hate them. They're perceived as being thieving, uneducated criminals, and stories about the community are never presented in a positive light. When they move their caravans onto local playing fields the local community react badly; can't wait for them to leave basically.

Fury is probably the most famous traveller in the country, and whilst it's certainly not the case that everyone dislikes them, it does make it quite difficult for him to be as popular as he could be.

    Only if and after Fury beats Wilder my friend, only after. A glimpse of 2 1/2 weeks in the sports media future;

"Fury - The fighting champion of mental illness"
"Fury beats depression, obesity, and the WBC world champion along the way"
"Fury conquers mental health and the world"
"New WBC world heavyweight champion Fury fighting for mental sufferers around the world"

Not a single mention he sat on the sidelines for 3 years for steroids. Pikies mate, they can spin a yarn and situation on their fingertips and the casuals and media will gobble it up if its a feel good human interest story. After Fury becomes a star reborn, Wilder vs Fury 2 will do huge numbers in the UK.

If 'pikies' as you call them could do all that why do so many people hate them?

You're not doing anything beyond confusing Fury being well known and Fury being popular. He is the former. He's not the latter.

See this might be the problem, both American based shows, the UK in general don't give a toss about Fury.

It's not because we don't sympathise and understand the struggles Fury has been through personally..

Frank Bruno a real national hero and adored by the British public went through serious mental health problems, he was sectioned. Fury isn't unique or a special case.

Lots of other sports, film stars and celebrities in the UK have suffered from all sorts of problems, one difference is (as said above) Fury is a traveller and as unfair and in my opinion discriminatory as it is.. the travelling community do get a raw deal.

Throw in the things Fury said about certain communities and his other controversial comments and he is not loved, adored or admired.

Many people want to see Fury absolutely battered but they won't be lining his pockets with their money buying PPV's to hopefully see it happen.

I am convinced in the next week or two those old stories will be brought back up, I don't believe America will be overly impressed with Furys opinions.

    Exactly Mr J, spot on.

I think the American boxing fans and Wilder fans believe we are all gagging for Fury Vs Wilder over here.

Whyte Chisora is a more anticipated fights and a far more popular fight, UK boxing fans are talking about that fight and undercard but I'm not hearing anybody talking about Fury Vs Wilder and especially the undercard.

Ticket sales in the US tell anybody with two brain cells that at this moment in time nobody really gives a toss about Wilder Vs Fury over there either.

I believe this is now some sort of strange denial thing, Wilder fans lost their minds when this fight was announced, believed it would be huge, it was and I quote "the biggest fight in boxing" and it would even out sell the like of AJ Vs Povetkin and it just hasn't and it looks like it won't.

Also, when people on here were saying to Wilder/Fury fans this wasn't as big as some of them believed they were shot down, abused, told they didn't know anything about boxing.. so I believe now that it's a case of not losing face and just saying "it looks like I was wrong.."

They are now changing the aims and goals, now it's all about what a KO win would mean for Wilder, apparently now if Wilder wins by KO he is worth 40% to 50% in an AJ fight.

Last month they were saying "when this fight does over 1 million PPV buys Wilder is worth 50%.."

We will see what happens on a few weeks, apparently they won't release the PPV numbers or purses so I'm expecting more arguments and abuse flying all over the place.

Tyson's cousin, Bridie, was in my class in year 4 - 4th grade for all the Americans - around 1994/1995.

Really smart girl and very polite and quiet. She knew all sorts of random stuff about nature and animals but couldnt read too well and some of the other kids used to tease her, c*nts.

If Fury wins I don't think a rematch would be in the uk. My bet is that wilder has the choice of venue and would go back to the US, maybe even Alabama, to maximise his chance of regaining his belt.
