There is controversy in the fight. How long Dempsey was out of the ring is in question. That he was helped back into the ring was not.

Why would you bother to ask? Twenty-eight seconds plus the count, 29 at most.

Depends on if the fight was held in Toyko, where Tyson gets drained after escapades with 50-60 geishas. As he did before the Douglas fight.

Firpo was a big, tough guy. I don't see him being intimidated by Tyson, and that's how Tyson won many of his fights before he got into the ring.

Yes I see Tyson winning but there is a 20% chance the Argentine survives the initial onslaught and wins by ko.

See David Tua-John Ruiz. 15-20 seconds, including the count.

Tyson KO1. Firpo was awful, looks like a drunk in a bar fight. The "knockdown" which resulted in Dempsey falling out of the ring shouldn't have even been counted since it was nothing more than Firpo shoving Dempsey through the ropes. It was a foul, not a legit knockdown.

Yes, he's right, not something to laugh about really because fellas were still getting lynched back in that time and later.

Which black boxer was lynched for winning a fight?

None that I know of but allegedly there where a few lynchings when Johnson won the title or it could of been when he beat Jeffries. Mainly lads celebrating the win by all accounts. Obviously this was before Dempsey but I think lynching was still going on at that time and later.

I am fairly confident in predicting that he could survive the ring walk and remain fully intact....anything else is a bonus

I’d argue that a prime Firpo goes the distance with Tyson and may even win if he catches Tyson like he did Dempsey. Dempsey’s infighting skills were killing Firpo while Tyson was very weak when it comes to infighting skills. Firpo tried to tie Dempsey up and make it a dirty fight, but was getting destroyed.

Firpo had to get distance and start swinging for the fences to keep Dempsey off him, which resulted in him knocking Dempsey out of the ring.

Tyson was pretty harmless when guys like Mitch Green, Smith, and Tucker tied him up. Also, Tillis went the distance with Tyson, so I can definitely see Firpo doing it, since despite not having the benefit of neutral corner rules when he fought Dempsey Firpo still managed to get up seven times and even knock Dempsey out of the ring.
