The survival rate from plane accidents are actually remarkably high. Something like 90 percent I believe. The mortality rates obviously take a slight turn if you just look at the data from airlines from slightly less economically developed backgrounds. Other than escalators, I don't think there's statistically a safer way to travel.

Am I still an absolute mess on flights? Without a ****ing doubt.

You didn't even have to mention Helicopters either, they are blatantly unsafe compared to planes aren't they

 

It isn't something I've looked into but the fact no one mentions how 'safe' they are statistically speaking would lead me to assume that they aren't particularly safe

Agreed..Your taking a chance BIGTIME in a helicopter. Engine stalls, or runs in to problems, your dead !
