At 135 hes already pushing it. Hes short, got short arms, narrow shoulders. He just isn't built for anything more than 130. Now some will immediately point to another short, short arm, narrow shoulder southpaw named Pacquiao. And say well he did it so Loma should be fine. Not true, they are completely different fighters. Loma is all footwork and technique. He will be overwhelmed at higher weights. Pac, pound for pound hit harder than Golovkin, that's how hard he hit. For reference on just how ****ing hard Pac hit pound for pound check his fights at 122 and 126 And he was crazy fast. Lomachenko didnt even have much power at 126. Going north of 135 and fighting the best there would be a very bad idea. He really should be at 130, but Mayweather wont let Davis touch him with a 10 foot pole. And the other guys like Berchelt won't be interested either.
Excuses. He's not short. You clowns were trying to claim he was 5'6 going into the Rigondeaux fight. He looked a tad taller than Walters which means he's 5'7 and change. He's taller than Tim Bradley, Pacquiao, and Porter. He's Thurman's height. What he should really do is move back down, because he ducked the best fighters at 130.
Berchelt and Davis wanted none of it. And Machado just now arrived. And don´t play the "who has he beaten?" game. The same can be done to Machado, Berchelt and Davis.
Who hasn't? Berchelt was in line to face Loma. He was the WBO mandatory. But he opted to face Vargas, who was less of a threat. Davis only stepped up once so far. And his team straight out ducked Loma. Only one who stands out is Machado. He was thrown in there with Corrales as more of a sacrificial lamb. GBP's money was on Corrales. Not that they cared too much either way because both men were signed to them.
I don't see any need to move higher than 135, at least so far. His frame isn't going to go much higher while allowing him to keep his speed/reflexes where they are.
Loma can go to 140 and still maintain everything that he has now. He is 5'7" and his frame is not as fragile as people make it out to be. However, 147 is a bridge too far.
he knows, his team knows. he was offered pac at 140 and said no, you take that fight if you have any confidence in your ability at 140, opportunities like that dont fall out of the sky every day..
It's not only confidence, it's a matter of being smart. What weight was he when offered Pac at 140? See as he looked smaller than his opponent at 135, it's not a stretch to allow someone a tune up in a new weight class to acclimate their body better. Besides, Pac's career of late has had way too many names attached for most rumors to carry real weight.
im sure there are more excuses if you dig hard enough, fact remains that he turned down a fight that guys like pac, chavez, marquez, etc... would take... even with the same excuses applying.
