Greg beat the Hell outta a shot Mancini, but how would he have fared against a prime Ray? In fairness to Greg, he was also past his prime when he beat Mancini.
Like many fighters with that style, Mancini's career was not built for longevity. Prime for prime, I take Mancini by decision.
I give Haugen a decent chance peak for peak. It's a tight call. Haugen had some stones. He'd be better than anyone Ray ever beat imo, certainly post Arguello.
For a single win, Haugen never beat anybody as good as JL Ramirez. However, Haugen beat better fighters overall than Mancini did. Ramirez aside, Mancini's list of wins is underwhelming. I think this a close fight prime-for-prime, but I would give Mancini the edge. Not by much, though. Haugen always gives him problems. I think Mancini wins a hard fought decision.
A prime Vinnie Paz, Mancini, Haugen round robin would be a CBS Sports Spectacular Sat. afternoon(s) dream.
He did and i've been meaning to rewatch it for ages. It'd the reason i added certainly post Arguello as a bit of a kicker. It's Mancini's career best win for mine. Mancini showed he really knew how to fight a southpaw in that one. His feet placement and overall footwork was superb. I've never much thought how i'd rate Haugen and Ramirez. It's a good question.
