Tell me what exciting undercard fights was on GGG vs Canelo show? Or on the mayweather pacquiao fight? No one buys ppv to watch undercards. You're clutching at straws FWI I couldn't give a damn who or how many people buy ppv. I don't get paid for increased ppv numbers. As a fight fan I want to see a great fight in the main event. That is why I and many others set our alarms for when the main event starts, to skip all of the irrelevant fights beforehand. But maybe I've judged you wrong. Maybe just maybe, you're one of the ceo's who has experience in financial and receive a slice of the pie from these kind of shows. Or maybe you're a promoter who is looking at the competition so you can make sure your own fighter pulls off bigger and better shows. So tell us all, which one are you?
Go and check out the numbers in the states for how many tuned in to witness him beat Povetkin and you will see he'd have fared no better in selling out anything if he was based soley in the states. The numbers were pathetic to say the least for those who watch boxing for that sort of thing.
Picking the winner of those PPV fights is too easy. It's 100% certain the winners will be: Ortiz Hurd (this is the worst mismatch, it shouldn't have been approved) Joyce PPVs should have competitive fight. It's not fun to watch boxing when you know for sure who is going to win. And most of the non-televised card is predictable too: Yarde Arreola Lowe Licona-Barriga at minimumweight is the only fight that's possibly competitive, but it's not on the PPV.
I think this event will probably do better than expected, it's not the first time I see "Fight ain't selling well" and then comes the event and it's a sold out arena with great ratings.
My list for the whole 12 fights (winners only). M.Wilder Rodriguez Guerrero Arreola Lowe Yarde Chavez Jr Joyce Ortiz Barriga Hurd Fury Barriga outboxes Licona. The only competitive fight is the main event, but Fury shocks everyone by schooling Wilder and stopping him late.
Didn't realise Wilder had a little brother that was a pro. Isn't Tommy Fury also planning to start as a cruiserweight? Would have been entertaining, but never likely to happen to see them face off before the main to get atmosphere going, and more competitive than Hurd Langford will be.
AJ is a British, Wilder is American, where is LA? The onus is on Wilder to be selling tickets in his own country. What does it matter what AJ would sell in LA? If you believe it's a big fight then fine, a lot of people don't, big fights sell out normally, this is struggling. 200k buys? Predictions just get lower and lower, why? Is this so if it does 250k people can claim it's a success? We've gone from predictions of over 1 million to predictions of 200k, It's getting lower and lower by the day now.
I hope you are right and I'm wrong about the main event. I'm definitely rooting for Fury to pull off an upset.
The only thing Fury is pulling off is Eddie Hearn after Wilder knocks him senseless and he wants a couple of PPV fights on Sky/DAZN and then that big AJ payday.
We are a week away and this prediction now seems to be a little errrr how can I put this... errr optimistic This content is protected
Your right, hes not really pulling off anything, because even a rusty Fury easily outboxes Wilder untouched. Just seems like it because the Wilder hype train is in full swing and it seems like conventional wisdom. Will be a dominating performance, Fury wins by late stoppage.
250K Buys at US Price will be equivalent to that of 750K Buys in the UK. So it will make 8 figures. Which is outstanding and close to most of Joshua’s fights bar Klitschko and Parker Never mind the high ticket prices which will add to the revenue. You people keep fogetting, US PPV prices means it’s very simple to generate big money as long as you get more than 100K People Buying
It was on DAZN. When Americans think of the name “DAZN” they think of a second rate hostel. If Joshua-Povetkin was on Showtime it would have done 500K viewership minimum when you consider the live telecast in the afternoon and same day evening replay
Boxing isn’t big in the US. It’s a niche sport over their, why don’t people understand that. Wilder only fights on Preimum Cable (Showtime) so it limits his visability too. Never mind the fact, race matters a lot in America. If Wilder-Fury does 200K at US PPV Retail Prices, it will be equivalent to a UK PPV doing 700K. So if it does 200K it is a success. Add in High Ticket Prices and International TV Revenue including UK PPV. It will be on a par with the majority of Joshua’s Fights except for Klitschko and Parker
