Both fighters in their primes at welterweight, who takes the win?

Whew.....I like Oscar to edge it but this could be fun and close....either way I am sure someone will get robbed afterwards according to the media cards and masses

Based off their performances against Mayweather alone, I'd take De La Hoya, but that isn't the best reflection of a fight between themselves. This isn't a fight I'd bet on, to say the least.

Canelo could only make welterweight when he was a kid so impossible for them to be prime but if i stretch it to 154 then id say Oscar just. Great fight.

At welter I`d pick Oscar because Canelo would be weight drained, he`s a stocky light middle, Oscar was more thinned boned and had more of a welter`s build starting at lightweight. At middle Canelo would have detroyed Oscar based on De La Hoya`s fight with Hopkins, Canelo landed some good body shots on GGG in their first fight and even did good body work vs Floyd, the power that Canelo displayed going toe to toe would be too much for Oscar at middle specifically if Canelo went for Oscar`s body, even DLH was a good body puncher also, he has a thicker trunk and would take body shots better than the thinner Oscar. At light middle DLH would have more of a chance maybe, but it probably just the same as their middleweight fantasy bout, I feel Canelo proved he was better than Oscar in his second bout with GGG.

I agree with most of this!

I think at WW the edge in experience and ability goes to Oscar!

I agree with the call at MW, but I don’t get the comparison of DLH Hops. Oscar did well against Hops he just got caught with a hellacious body shot. I do favor Canelo on a decision but not based upon DLH Hop’s. I don’t see much relevance between the two?

LMW kind of a blend between the 2 fights and rather than call a draw, I will say A SD win goes to DLH.

But whoever loses thier fans will cry robbery

What Canelo did was realize that GGG is not as effective going backwards so he applied pressure. That does not mean he is a great puncher ( he's not) and it does not mean that no middleweight in history can hurt him ( because GGG is not as good going backwards)

At what weight? The lighter, the better for Oscar because Canelo's stamina is simply awful when he's killing himself to make the scale. At 160 he'd destroy Oscar, of that I'm sure.

Edit: I see you said welter. I think Oscar should be favoured here.

DH by UD. Canelo is not a great fighter, he is just perfectly managed.

What a boring snoozefest this fight would be, sorry, I meant to say what an engrossing chess match between two masters boxers this would be.

I don’t really think of either guy as a boring fighter? I guess due to thier styles it could turn into one? I don’t think it woukd be exciting on the level of Mosley DLH, but think these guys would perform at an entertaining high level.

Against the right opponents DLH could be in good fights, Canelo I have yet to see in an entertaining fight. It would be a 12 round 'chess match' - 95% of punches landing on the arms and gloves, neither guy taking any risks and I suspect most of the rounds would be very difficult to score because of the lack of clean punches, probably would end in a controversial decision.

Regardless of how people feel about the outcome of GGG vs Canelo I thought they were both high skill and entertaining fights. I felt both guys landed some solid blows in both fights. Canelo is a master counter puncher, but not a backwards fighting one, what do you find not entertaining about him?

Well if you enjoyed those fights then I'm genuinely pleased for you, and yeah, they both landed 'some' solid blows.
