Wilder has too much reach and power and those punches are coming fast, Spinks would mess him around like Ortiz did for the first half of the fight but after Wilder figures him out it`s over I feel.
I wouldn't put it past to Spinks win this. That wind milling loud mouth ain't in the same universe as 88 Tyson. Wilder truly is a dreadful boxer with an awesome right hand. Spinks might get caught and stopped, or he might pick Wilder apart.
Wilder doesn't have the intelligence to figure out one of the greatest technicians in history. It'd be quite the contrary... Wilder would have to catch Spinks before Spinks, with his very high ring IQ, figures him out.
Wilder gets worked every round up (barring any kd's) until the inevitable sledgehammer right hand ends proceedings.
Spinks jinks that fragile mandible. If Harold Sconiers could put this fraud on the canvas, a prime Michael Spinks knocks him out cold.
It depends on which Spinks. The in shape and healthy Spinks that beat Larry Holmes in 1985 would give Wilder the toughest fight he's ever had as a pro. However, if its the Spinks from 1988, who was inactive, out of shape, and that had two shot knees Wilder would knock him out in 1 round.
Maybe who do you think`s quicker though and how is Spinks going to get in and out? Leonard v Hearns style?
To some extent a replay of Jerry Cooney, although Wilder's big punch is the right, not the left, and he is not physically and spiritually denuded from cocaine and alcohol abuse.
At this point Wilder looks better to me than he ever has thanks to the Ortiz win. However Spinks was a proven, tricky customer. I'd pick Wilder to get outboxed for most of the fight and then to starch him late. Of course, Spinks has a chance to win, in a dominating points victory.
Aside from two decision wins over an old worn out Larry Holmes, Spinks just doesnt have the resume at the highest level of HWs to be a viable pick in this one. As bad as Wilder looks technically, he is still WBC champion with 7 defences and has devastating power. Adding in his height, reach and athletic advantages this one ends in another KO win for the bronze bomber.
Wilder's power makes him dangerous, but M Spinks was special. Either he embarrassingly and one sidedly out boxes Wilder to a decision win or Wilder at some point catches him and knocks his head off.
Spinks wins this by decision. Just way too smart and well schooled for amateurish Wilder. Spinks was a ten times better fighter than the Spzilka that was giving Wilder fits until walking into one big punch. Spinks was way more savvy and intelligent than Szpilka. He wouldn't make that mistake.
Cooney is a much better boxer with a better jab than Wilder and probably hits about as hard. I doubt that Wilder's faster hands (than Cooney) will compensate for his wild form enough to allow him to land on Spinks that much more easily. I think Spinks has at least a 50-50 shot here, maybe 60-40. Wilder is damn sure no Tyson. Even if Wilder manages to land his big shot, this dog ain't cornering the cat without getting his face scratched all to hell first.
